FB: If you're not doing this, you are missing a lot of quality traffic...

If you're not taking advantage of Custom Audiences, Lookalike Audiences and Retargeting, you are really missing out.

And no, I am not talking about scraping emails and user IDs to create Custom Audiences. I mean creating audiences out of your website visitors and fans.

For example: You can market directly to your fans using ads. That's pretty targeted.

You can market to people who have visited your website. That's pretty targeted.

You can market to peopole who have visited certain pages on your website, but not others. That's pretty targeted.

You can have Facebook use their vast database of user behavior to create lookalike audiences of your fan pages or website visitors. That's pretty targeted.

You can quickly and easily carve out a nice business by really targeting in on people who visit your website.

The key is to capture the lead. You need to get your fans and website visitors out of the third party and onto your list. Like an asset. So if things go south with the third party, you'll still have the lead. The asset.

For example, I started a brand new campaign last night. Brand new website. Brand new email list. Brand new niche. Etc.

As of now, I have had 75 clicks to website. Added 44 people to my list. Plus, am building a custom audience. So then I can have facebook show my ads to people its data says are likely to click to my website. Additionally, I now have 30 some highly targeted prospects who have not yet signed up to my list. I can run a campaign directly to them.

Oh, and I am getting this at $0.07 per click to website. In a HIGHLY competetive niche.

Haven't gotten the chance to work with look a like audiences yet. Seems effective though.

Your ad set's cost per Website Click of $0.06 is less than 99% of similar ad sets.

OK. Something really weird just happened with this campaign. I was working in the Power Editor, adding conversion pixels, creating audiences, and creating new ads. I think the only thing I did to the original ad was add a conversion pixel. And I uploaded it.

Then I realized I messed something up with the new ad and I edited it and uploaded again.

Then I went to Aweber, to check my stats for the day. And I thought something was wrong...between 9:21 PM and 9:24 PM, I got 54 new subscribers.

I thought something was wrong. So I went to Facebook to check. My daily budget went. (oCPM) But, I had an insane spike in impressions and clicks. And an insane decrease in cost. I'm now getting $.04 clicks.

Could it be the conversion pixel that caused it? Was my audience just all on at the same time (will have to check insights)? Dunno...

Your Ad Set Is Performing Well
Your ad set's cost per Website Click of $0.04 is less than 99% of similar ad sets.

I think I might start dayparting. It seems like I get more conversions in the evening than during the day, but it is too early to tell.

I am going to fire up a retargeting campaign today to see if I can convert people who clicked but didn't convert.

You should build testing and optimizing into your plan. Anyway, here's the budget in general:
Facebook Fans: $.50 to $1 per Facebook fan ( this depends with factors like niche, brand recognition, established presence and country)
Email Subscribers: $1 per email address
Website Referrals:$.10 is a very good cost per website referral
        Product Sales: $30 per conversion
        App Installs: $2 per install

        What you guys think?

I have found that organic or secondary fan aquisition is better. By secondary I mean people who like your page via ads not intended to gain Facebook likes. (Meaning I do not run "Like" campaigns).

I try to get my website clicks below $.10 and subscribers below $.25. If I can't get to those numbers quickly, I kill the campaign and rething my marketing plan.

Completely agree with the original poster! I absolutely love Facebook ads. I get targeted traffic 1/10th the cost per click of other ppc platforms.

I have to agree, Facebook traffic can be really targeted as much as it gets especially if you were able to upload a list of IDs. It is very helpful for me gains me at least 1-3 signups per day and I'm just marketing to few thousand people.

Can you elaborate a little more how you started off getting 75 clicks in the first place? As you started from scratch, New Website, New Campaign, New list etc.

Quick update: I got 314 email subscribers yesterday. In just about a week and a half, I have just under 1,000 double opt in in name and email subscribers. My CPC is leveling out at about $.05. And my Cost Per Subscriber (double opt in) is just under $0.22.

Oh yeah, and I forgot. Here is something cool: My Advertisement has 99 likes, 17 comments and 23 shares. For an advertisement. In fact one of the comments is one person commenting to another that it is a good marketing idea. LOL

sounds like you're doing fan pages and marketing to them. As it would be difficult to get ads of the right side for that cheap..

If your audience have already clicked through to your website, they probably would have signed up if they were interested, no?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9643042].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author drewfioravanti
No. That's the whole point of retargeting...you are advertising to people who have expressed interest but did not complete the action. So...they are interested in the offer, they just haven't been ready or compelled to take the next step. So retargeting gives them a reminder.

Nice... Will definitely share this idea. Pretty neat results. I have a question. Do you also or is there an option where you can target audience to a specific time? Does it matter?
