What Advantage of a Blog Post Having Thousands of FB Likes?

I understand that having an fb page with thousands of likes is good but what about blog posts? Why ask other people to like a post? Is there any benefits? SEO, popularity, etc?

    Liked items are shown in the liker's activity and appears on their friend's news feeds. This increases the reach of anything liked - including blog posts. It basically opens up the blog post to a larger possible audience.

    In a nutshell, it's about exposure.

    When someone 'likes' your blog post, that fact is noted on their FB timeline so anyone visiting that page sees it. In addition, their Friends will see a little notice that so-and-so just liked your blog post. At least some of those people will likely visit your post and, you hope, repeat the cycle.

      That's especially important as organic reach is down for many people, so reaching out to the 'friends' of those people who are fans of your page would be a really big deal. A really good reason for someone to like one of your page posts.

    Hmm sound logical.
    On a side note, I have several blog posts with hundreds of shares but I don't know shares it. I wanted to know the type of people who shares my post but it seems fb don't allow this.

    I removed the "like" button in all of my blogs and replaced it with "share" button. 3 of my posts went viral and one has been shared more than 50K in one week...I proved that "sharing" is far more effective than "liking"

      Why not add a plugin like addthis. Different buttons will allow your Facebook fans/followers will be about to give their likes, also to share and recommend. And to make them come back for more.

      Woah that's amazing!
      So What I get is that then people didn't have the option to like the post, they just shared it with their friends. This gave you more attention right. I am really intrigued.

      Let us know if this keeps happening for other posts as well. Perhaps we should all experiement with this.

    Sharing is the key to have other people share your content. There really aren't any services that can provide real shares. But you can Google some strategies.

    It is very important though it tells people and search engines that your content is being shared. So they will assume it is important.

    When a reader sees a post has many likes, it makes them more likely to have a positive expectation for what is to come ... simply because many others have voted that it's the case.

    Beginning with a reader having a positive expectation of what is to come makes it more likely they'll read the entire post, and then opt-in to your list or then click through to your other links as well.

    It helps overcome the initial inertia that would otherwise make persuasion more difficult.
