What's your biggest challenge on Social Media?

Hi,

I was having a chat with one of my clients today and thought it would be good to share with you guys. He is an accountant and he said whilst he likes the idea of social media he thinks people won't want to comment on and share stuff that an accountant posted.

He believes his biggest challenge is not being in a "fun/cool" industry.

What is your biggest challenge with social media?

Facebook is not all about the 'fun' aspects of life. Many 'useful' pages get shares too. One of my favorite things to do is read posts from pages about quirky health info. You could say that's not a 'fun' niche, but for me it's really useful as it gives me lots of great trivia to talk about with friends. Your accountant friend could create useful/helpful tax or financial related memes and infographics to share with fans on Facebook. For instance, a Christmas themed meme that reminds fans to save their receipts for end of the year contributions to charities to use at tax time. Or, an infographic about all the tax related deductions associated with working at home.

I also think this statement to be true. If you have helpful, insightful and well constructed articles/posts you can really target anyone who may be interested. Maybe it's "5 Best ways to save on your tax returns" ... "10 Common mistakes while lodging tax" ...

There is usually an audience for anything and everything you can think of. Consistent, good content is always a great place to start.

Get some ideas on a piece of paper.

I am new to FB advertising but my biggest challenge so far is gaining any significant reach on my posts. Even when it gets good interaction I am luck if maybe 1/4 of my audience sees it! I know a lot of others are having this issue as well but my page is still not that old and probably doesn't have a high edgerank yet.

I would say creating the content for people to share is the biggest challenge just because it takes a lot of energy to create good content.

Unlike eham above who is going thread to thread posting useless unhelpful responses I will tell you try using Post Planner. It has some great feature to schedule and it will even provide trending viral content in a variety of niches.

Pretty much this, I spend a few hours finding content and asking people to follow me... and for what? I make no money, I don't have enough experience to manage multiple niches.

Sometimes I just wanna give up, if I made a damn cent or two it would be enough to keep me motivated at this point.

Technology changes, user preferences change, companies goals change and the biggest challenge is to keep on top of all of them at the same time. This is also one of the reasons why I enjoy working in social media so much. This constant evolution makes the space very interesting to work in and even more rewarding to do well in.

I also think that with clearly defined goals and processes, keeping on top of the space is both easier and more beneficial for us as marketers and our clients.

I think establishing yourself on Facebook is actually one of the biggest challenges. People's newsfeeds are always overflowing with information. Finding something worth people's attention, and then retaining that attention is actually a challange in itself.

A person's market may certainly affect which methods are most profitable for them. In this case, however, it may be worth testing that assumption he has made. Social media doesn't need to be about pictures of cute cats and viral joke videos to be effective.

Just keeping up with it all. Posting regularly on twitter, facebook, google+, tsu, and other social media services takes a while to really get into the habit of doing on a daily basis. Add blogs too and multiple accounts for multiple businesses/stores, and it just multiplies.

Everyone knows creating content allows you to rank more keywords in search results but are lazy to do it. I prefer to wait hire a marketer so I don't have to.
