Hi All

Maybe you guys can help I am starting out creating ads in FB and everytime I upload image it cuts off a big chunk of the image top and bottom, there's a moving window in the reposition image section of the ad manager and it's quite a bit smaller height wise than my image.

I looked at another guys ads and his pics looks quite tall on the timeline post, and image size is about the same as I have, but as soon as I create an ad, add an image I want it then cuts off top and bottom section.

I'm not sure if I am doing this wrong but I want the pic to be a clickable link so I put in URL then replace rendered image with my own image.

Image size is 534x359

A comparable ad size that is exactly how I wanted mine to look is 553px Ã-- 401px so don't think it's anything to with the my image size. This ad image looks way taller than mine so confused how FB is only letting me use about 1/2 of the image height.

Trying to do FB NF and mobile ads.

  • Going from memory here as I'm not in the office but I make the images 1200 x 627 (I think) that then scales down on fb.. I can check the size in the morning if you haven't got a definitive answer

  • It depends on what kind of campaign you are running. For a post ad, as stated, the size you should upload is 1200x627. It will scale to fit desktop and mobile. If you're running a different campaign, the sizes will be different.

    Check this: https://www.facebook.com/business/ad...%20News%20Feed

  • I've found that the dimensions Facebook mention in the ad manager often gets cut (like they're giving the wrong size).
I usually upload my pic, then it gets cut, then I do an exact screenshot of the preview image, open it in Photoshop and check the real dimensions.
It's a bit tedious, but it works.

    • Thanks all for the advice so far. I'll try that size when I get back in tonight. I'm thinking it might be something to do with the type of ad although what I don't know yet!

  • Dude. Seriously. Read that page. It will help. It says it right on the page:

    Clicks to Website

Send people to important sections of your website.

    Page Post Engagement

When you boost posts you'll reach more people. Engagement can include likes on your post, comments, shares and photo views.

    • Yip I read that and from that I understand if you have an existing post you can boost it using PPE but many of the guys I see using PPE for sending people to websites! So in essence why would you want to use CTW instead of PPE is my question if you were pointing people to an external site.
  • Because you want to send people to you website, not engage with your page on Facebook. You can create a newsfeed ad that points to your website. Its called a Page Post Ad. It's not boosting a post. It's completely different. It's a post, just like any other post, that is fed to the newsfeed of your targets. It will look like any other post...headline, copy, image, link, except it will say "Sponsored" and, unless they already like your page, there will be a like button. So it looks just like any other post on their newsfeed.

You can create "dark" posts, and then turn them into ads. So you are basically writing an advertisement, but formatting it into a post. Then you turn that post into an ad, and it gets delivered to the newsfeed of your target audience.

Pretty sure you can only do this through the Power Editor, which I believe is only available on Chrome.

  • For maximum visibility on Facebook, the best approach is to use images with 1.91:1 aspect ratio.
Ex: 1200x630 pixels, 800x420 pixels, 600x315 pixels, etc.
