Does Anyone Actually Make Sales From Twitter?

Just wondering if anyone here uses Twitter as a medium for generating sales. I know it's used to drive traffic to landing pages and such, but i doubt it's an adequate place to directly promote sales pages. Thoughts?

It drives traffic to landing pages therefore it's ultimately making you a sale anyway...

However yes, on it's own I've made several direct sales via twitter in the past

Twitter is still a good method to generate sales. It is very important however
to get followers that are in the niche you are promoting. For example
you wouldn't want to be promoting golf stuff to followers who
have no interest in golf. You would ant to promote weight loss info or products
to your followers who do not want to lose weight. Therefore getting targeted followers
is very important. There several software or bots on the market you can buy
to get these targeted followers. You can use google search to find them.
Also if for example you have a Blog or landing page about weight loss you should ask your
visitors to follow you on twitter.

Yeah the quality and type of followers is enormously important. Its a much slower, harder process to get real people who actually like your content as followers, but then they are much likelier to purchase when the time comes.

i.e.: Spent time and money posting content and interacting with similar accounts, rather than buying followers or buying into communities.

Targeted traffic is targeted traffic. Most important thing is reaching people that are interested in what you're offering.

If I tweet a discount or holiday special to my followers on Twitter, then I always get good response, including traffic and increased sales. This is only possible because I take time during the other parts of the year to actually provide non-promotional content and tips that my followers want.

  • We make a few sales from twitter. If someone has a broken cell phone in Vancouver and mentions it, we can see that and contact them

If you are a small business owner aiming to provide legitimate results through social media, you should first have legitimate followers and fans. Target people according to their interests, age, sex and location. Choosing the people you are going to follow is the first step to filter and obtain legitimate followers.

Simply add your sales landing page with your Twitter account and obviously it will help you to sale. I already have sold few items in this way

It's all about how targeted the traffic is.

Yes, you are able to generate sales but the conversion ratio will be lower cause people in social media are not in buying mood.

So it's better to offer something for free for their email and get them to your list.

Higher conversion ratio and being able to contact them again = money well spent (in case you're buying tweets)

I've never made a direct sale but the idea should be to get them to your site and ultimately on an email list.
