I don`t think that StumbleUpon is the right place to promote anything and get buyers.

I agree. StumbleUpon can provide you traffic but not necessarily the sales that your business aim. I suggest that you focus more on major social media sites. Aside from the main-streams (Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus), you can also look for niche social media and communities like Reddit and relevant forums.

If you want to use stumbleupon for traffic then use their Paid discovery option, this option work like Google adwords and Facebook campaigns but cheaper. You can target specific country, specific age etc.. but do check the reach of your campaign before starting it. For other social media, either to establish your self (long term process) or choose their paid campaign for initial boost.

There are various social networks that help in improving traffic to your website. StumbleUpon is one of them. Firstly, create your StumbleUpon account and choose the interest that are related to your website. Follow people from that related interest and they will also start following you. You can also unfollow people after 1 or 2 weeks if they are not following you back. You can also add pages like your website, blogs, PPT link and another link in the StumbleUpon and can also create a list for that pages. You can also like the other pages and comments on them if they are relevant to your website.

Yes there's traffic from Stumbleupon but don't stick with that bookmarking site only. It might incur bounce rates if your E-commerce website is not that "inviting". You can take advantage to Diigo and Delicious. Social Media Giants (Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus) drive more traffic than these other social bookmarking or network sites.

From Stumbleupon you will only get the social traffic, but don't depend on it as it will increase the bounce rate of your site and you will not get any goal conversion from it.

Stumble is just not a single social bookmarking website to get a traffic. If you want organic traffic yo your website, then you have to do SEO work.

Social bookmarking websites have a huge traffic but its not constant. If you want regular traffic then you have to work hard and post your content daily on below website:

    1. Stumbleupon.com
    2. Reddit.com/
    3. Pinterest.com/
    4. Fark.com
    5. Digg.com/
    6. Delicious.com/
    7. Diigo.com
    8. Folkd.com
    9. Instagram.com
    10. Plurk.com
    11. Scoop.it

From Stumbleupon you can get high traffic, but it also increase bounce rate of your site. Get any goal conversion from Stumbleupon is too difficult, but it will increase traffic in your site.

"StumbleUpon has its own URL shortening system, Su.pr. Once you have signed up for StumbleUpon and logged into your account, you can enter your message or just a URL to shorten with the Su.pr system.

You can then copy this message and send it as a status update, or let Su.pr connect to your Twitter and Facebook and post it directly to those accounts immediately or schedule it for later. When someone clicks on the link, they will get to your website with the StumbleUpon toolbar conveniently above the post, making it simple for logged in users to thumb up your content."

StumbleUpon will get you some pretty decent traffic if you target your customers right. Other sources that you can get traffic from are Google+, Facebook, PinInterest, Instagram, Tumblr, and even article directories.

For a business related site I highly suggest using infographics this can help make your site go viral on StumbleUpon and may get you some subscribers as well.

In my experience, Stumbleupon has mostly been good for only getting bigger numbers. Higher bounce rate, no sales, and very few people will share your link. I noticed during a big surge (50k +) of Stumbleupon traffic it really messes up your ad views and throws off your stats if you're checking that.

Initially we are trying the following. In more cases, StumbleUpon can be a great way to get traffic but not much sale and engagement. Nonetheless, we are urging you to try major SNS and see how it work depending on your service or good.

    1. Make video tutorials, infographics, images, list, tips, and other visual centric content.
    2. segment content with Su.pr to other networks
    3. socialize and get organic stumbles.

Don't rely only on stumbleupon for your traffic, there are many social bookmarking sites, reddit, tumblr, digg, delicious and more. Use different traffic sources like social media, web 2.0 sites, slideshares, pdf sharing sites, video marketing and more.

StumbleUpon traffic isn't that great, really. Those people are just looking for the next shiny thing. If you doubt me, pony up for a $10 ad and you'll see. Most people will stay on your site for all of 5 seconds.

I am not a big fan of StumbleUpon. I just don't see it producing high quality traffic and I think it has become a glorified traffic exchange website.

I'd focus on building a following on the larger social networks and engaging with some key influencers in the industry to get them to share your content.

I know you said you didn't want to do a paid for option but I'd suggest having a look at Facebook's advertising platform. The cost per click is generally quite low and you can set a budget, so don't worry about having to spend loads of money that you don't have. There are also some ad vouchers out there that you'll be able to use (just google them).

Well.. I didn't have any experience on Facebook advertising, do you have any experience in it? if so please guide me for same!
Is it worthy to get traffic form facebook? i know FB provide only no follow links rather not do follow links and so it won't produce any link juice.
Also we are spending money on FB Advertising. so please stretch your ideas on Facebook advertising.
