Help! Pinterest experts, can you please help?

Hi,

I just wanted to ask the "Pinterest experts" among you: What is your most effective way of getting quality followers to your boards and group-boards? (By saying "quality" I mean engaged pinners who have lots of followers themselves and who are genuinely interested in the niches/topics of the boards they chose to follow).
  • I've been trying to hand-pick the "ultimate pinners" and to follow them, hoping they will follow me back, but the respond is far from being satisfying...
  • I'm trying to constantly pin great stuff to my boards, every day... But again, it doesn't bring me hordes of followers... Just a trickle...
  • I'm very active in group-boards and get quite a few likes and re-pins from them but, again, it doesn't bring followers to my boards.
  • I launched quite a few group boards myself, and I'm trying hard to convince great pinners to become contributors, and although some of them agree, most of them do not pin anything to the boards and they do not have ANY impact on increasing the number of followers...

PLEASE... Can you give me any great tip or advise? Maybe a software that I can use (only if it is allowed by Pinterest's TOS)...

    I am definitely not an expert, but if you are a member of The War Room, check out/search for a post by ShoeNickel, who is! There is some solid information there.
    Your boards look terrific. I am in a similar position, I get trickles of traffic, but nothing to write home about.
    I am working on getting more relevant followers, then inviting them to my main board. I will then repin their stuff on other boards, which encourages them to return the favor. I hope!
    It takes time and can be frustrating, I guess one just has to keep plugging away at it.

    I'm far from an expert, considering I've been on Pinterest less than a week, but here's my current strategy:

    1) Find pinners who are pinning in my niche, and have 100+ followers.
    2) Follow their followers, at a maximum rate of 200/hour.

    I find that I get about a 12% follow-back rate, and presumably these are people who will be interested in what I pin, since they were following someone pinning in my niche.

    One thing that might help, if you decide to try this strategy, is having a profile photo that reflects what you pin, instead of just being a picture of you.

    Your boards look great, so I hope this helps you get more followers to see them!

      12% follow-back rate ??? That's awesome ! I'm hardly getting 2% - 3%

        Yeah, I was surprised it was that high! I'm guessing the difference we're seeing is primarily because you've been going after the 'big fish' -- people who already have a lot of followers. Your 'RoniShwartz started following you' notices are probably getting lost in the flood of other notices the 'big fish' get. I'm going after lots of 'little fish,' and since they get fewer notices, they're more likely to notice the bait. XD

        And it's quite possible your 2-3% is actually going to be more effective than my 12%, if the people you're getting are going to repin your stuff to more followers.

    A better strategy would be to look for the ultimate pinners (the people with lots of boards/pins/followers in your niche) and target their followers. You can follow those people and they will usually follow back. The people who are followers of ultimate pinners are usually not site owners and only looking for more great content to consume. If you have good content on your boards and pin regularly, they are just as likely to follow you as another ultimate pinner.

    RoniShwartz there is an amazing site that I recommend you check out that will help you blow the roof off the competition. It is called Top Pinterest Users and that should pretty much help you get your feet wet and begin to really take your Pinterest boards, pins, etc to the next level

      Thanks cherbeat, I'm familiar with sites like Top Pinterest Users and PinAuthority, but what exactly do you suggest I should do with them... Follow top pinners in my niche ? Follow followers of top pinners in my niche ? I'm not sure I understand your strategy...

        I would say to make sure to comment on the all of the relevant boards.. Make sure to include your @pinterestusername in all of your comments.. (Something I do) Make sure to Repin to your boards. I only like occasionally. But the biggest factor in my opinion is to make comments (relevant comments pertaining to your boards - maybe include your board/pin via a link in there as well) a quick way to get other people immediately going to you monetized board or pin.. Pinterest has never dinged me because I am redirecting to another board or pin...

        I think finding top boards via these authoritative websites is one of the biggest keys because these top pinners will have top boards as well.. If your topic is similar then you will get others going to your boards and pins more frequently... I also believe using MEME style or Infographic via quotes and a nice background image does really well and gets more user engagement from my experience..

          BTW: I do produce my own pictorial-quote-pins, I pin them to large quote-group-boards and I get LOTS of repins and even likes... BUT getting traffic to my boards and/or websites from these pictorial-quote-pins is not impressive... Most pinners would just share them but not click on them... Any idea on how to improve the call-for-action on this type of pins???
