Can Hashtags Get Me That Far?

13 replies
I've experimented with using hashtags on some social media pages in the past, which were brand new and had no followers. I never, or hardly ever got any shares or likes, etc, but I never stuck with it that long because I was sort of experimenting, and I had other things I was working on.

My question is, can I take a page and by adding the right hashtags to my posts, get attention and grow the page without doing anything else? I know the other things people do grow a page's popularity, but I want to be as legit as possible, and I want quality potential leads.

I'm not new to marketing with social media, but I've never tried just using hashtags extensively.

    They certainly can. You are right that you need to use the right hashtags though.

    Using hashtags like #weekend #happy won't get you the right audience so you need to make sure that you are using hashtags that are relevant to your niche.

    A stat that might help to prove to you that hashtags are important: 57% of Twitter users found a SMB on Twitter and the number one way of doing so is through hashtags.

    Use trending hashtags in your market. But don't let that be the only way you grow.

    Yes, you can get many followers using only htags, but not in anyway.

    You'll need:
    - to use a main keyword in your landing page;
    - add several shares per day;
    - add main targeted htags to each post to dominate htag searches made by interested people;
    - engage with new followers.

    I used this strategy and in a year I've got 38,000 real followers on Google+ (see the proof: https://plus.google.com/106540732086836623615 )

    I am not getting a bunch of Likes and Followers but I do get a one or two, which is good for me instead of not getting any. So, as much as possible and if it is applicable on my posts I use it. Why not? Using hashtags is for free. I've nothing to lose anyway.

    Hashtags are pretty awesome, but you need to know the right ones to use. Perform a search and find the popular ones that are relative to your niche. See what hastags are being used by your competitors, and get some from trending topics. They can really be effective if used right.

      If your Twitter account is linked to your Youtube account, then when you upload your videos, they will be automatically tweeted without any hashtags. So, when you upload your video, share it manually by adding the relevant hashtags to get more reach.

    Maybe if you can use hashtags for trending/popular topics, then it help you more. That's assuming your post has something to do with those hashtags being used.
