Tips On Getting More Twitter Followers?

I am looking to get some more twitter followers. I have a professionally designed header and profile picture, everything looks pretty good appearance wise. I have about 10 tweets and i have only 14 followers. I got those followers by going to other peoples twitter in my niche and following their followers (who followed me back). I kinda don't like doing this because it just doesn't seem right to me. What can I do?

your content has to be something people will retweet or enjoy. Not sure what your handle is but dont just post links or what you do.

ask yourself "would i retweet this tweet?". No one wants to hear "web site design for $199", they want to see "What do you look for in a website". You now draw interaction.

Its not about followers, its about quality of followers. Ive seen accounts with 1 million followers suck and some with 30k followers that are more powerful.

Maybe it would be helpful to see your Twitter content, to see what you're tweeting about. Right now, there's an assumption that you are tweeting content that is of value to your followers. If you're just tweeting ads, you won't get a lot of visitors. You should tweet content that informs, helps, excites and motivates your niche audience into action and furthers then toward their own goals.

  • Your tweets are your main asset. So, share great content regularly and stay active. Maintain the frequency of posting tweets. Tweets with images gets more attention, so keep that in mind. If you post ads, make a balance. Post tweets when your followers are most active. I believe there is tools to help you with that. Use proper hash tag but don't abuse it. Join conversations. I found it really effective. All these are to get real active engaging followers. If you want quick but poor quality followers, you may go for mass following others and may use hast tags like "follow4follow" .

Simple way is to follow more people, and retweet their tweets.

Many times these same people will follow back

Some good advice in here - I would definitely make use of Twitter's List feature, don't just follow people, also favorite their content and add them to lists - makes them a lot more likely to notice you, especially if the list is complimentary i.e. "Marketing Wizards" or "Funny Writers"

  • Re-tweet and favorite does not help getting followers. I tested and confirmed. In the past i set up a bot to run 24/7 to retweet and favorite keyword targeted tweets every 5 minutes , but the out put is very poor. It may only help to deliver new content on your timeline, not more than that. So focus more on posting your own tweets maintaining correct frequency and time interval. Re tweet and favorite content which actually deserves that. Hope this helps.

Make sure to tweet relevant tweets, i.e. not too much personal what you did for the day type stuff unless your twitter followers are all friends. Also make sure to respond to people's tweets even if you aren't following them. They usually will end up following you in return if you write something interesting

I currently have 29.000 legitimate, not-paid-for followers. Here are some things that I've found help:

    1. To stay consistently engaged, I have tweets going out a few times a day.

    2. My posts, to stay fresh and not boring, are a mix of questions, motivational, content (tips on book writing, outsourcing, content creation, general IM), new podcasts, and very rare promotions.

    3. I go on Twitter a few times a day and actually respond to EVERYONE who writes to me - even the people who just say "Thanks for following me".

    4. I think my bio is interesting. I'm not sure if I can link to my Twitter in this post but it's in my signature. Many people have commented on it. Make an interesting bio.

    5. Twitter is in my signature in a few places.

    6. I go on sites like MyTopTweet to find out which of my tweets are doing best so I can do more of that.

    7. Posting pictures is definitely more helpful than just word posts, so I make sure to mix those in.

What an amazing post. This has been my experience so far with Twitter. You have to really work on it to get followers. I have been sending out 10+ tweets a day with great success.

I would suggest asking your followers questions and connecting with others by asking them questions. I have made quite a few connections with big business owners by just talking to them on Twitter. People want to be noticed, so Tweet them, retweet their content and let your network help you succeed.

Also, Rachel had a very good tip with adding pictures to your Tweet. Tweets with images get 2x the engagement of Tweets without images.

I also really like this post its right on the button. I can not see it anywhere in this thread but a good tool you can use is tweetadder. Its great for automating some of the process but I would not recommend replacing the above strategy. You need to do both. But it will definitely speed the process up and I believe you can try it on a free trial basis.

The first step to get more Twitter followers is to make sure you have a clean, high-resolution logo for your profile photo and relevant cover photo

When people are deciding they want to follow you or not, they will scan your Twitter bio to see if what you will be tweeting will be relevant to them. A good formula to follow is stating out what you do, where you work, and what industry you’re interested in

If you need to reply to a bunch of people, just make sure you have the @username as the first thing in your replies. Having the @username ensures that all your followers don’t get spammed with all your replied conversations.

Attach your Twitter URL on your Facebook profile/page, business cards, email signatures, and your websites.Get huge traffic purchased or use any software.

Tweet something you’d be excited about if you saw it. Offer your audience engaging content that they can be excited about. Many brands make the mistake of using Twitter as a promotional thing.

Here's a little outline for you. This should get you not only more followers, but traffic to your site as well:

    Create amazing content

If you're struggling to create great content, google: The Skyscraper Technique.

It's a long term strategy for creating content, building traffic, SEO, etc., but it's highly effective.

Come up with multiple twitter headlines per article

Next, create a spreadsheet with the name of each article in one column. In another column, come up with as many tweets as possible to share each article.

So, one could be the title of the post. Another could be a quote. Another could be a description. And another could be a question related to the topic, etc.

You're coming up with as many as possible so you can share the exact same article on Twitter multiple times without aggravating people with the same tweet over and over.

    Automate your posting schedule

Then, use "bit.ly" to create a shortened URL for each article. Put these URLs in another column of your spreadsheet.

Head over to Buffer or Hootsuite or another social sharing service, and schedule as many tweets as possible. With the free versions, you're limited to a little less than 20 or so, but that's alright. You'll just have to keep topping it up.

Make sure to include 1-2 relevant hashtags with each tweet, so it goes out to more than just your followers.

After that, you should be good to go to get some steady follower, traffic, and shares.

    But we're not done yet.

Using popular content as a way to get even more followers, traffic, and shares

Head over to "snip.ly" (that's the URL) or Google: Sniply.

Sniply is a service that allows you to take an article or web page that's already popular, and stick a link with a description and CTA button on it to anywhere you choose. In this case, we're going to send people to your article and write a compelling description to entice them to click.

Head over to Buzzsumo and search for topics related to your articles. Buzzsumo ranks their searches based on which articles have been shared the most.

These are popular articles, meaning that when you share them, they're more likely to get retweeted and engaged with.

Grab at least one popular article per each of your posts. Type the headline in your spreadsheet.

Then, head over to Sniply and paste in the URL of the popular article. A window will pop up. Fill in all the fields. Make sure "Button" is selected and change the button text to say "Read This Article" or something. And write a description that would make you want to click and read it.

    Then, finalize your Sniply link.

You now have a Sniply URL that when people click on it on twitter, it will take them to the popular article.

However, it will also show the little snippet you made in the bottom corner with a description and button to click to your article.

People who click to the popular one are already interested in the topic, so if your description is different and compelling enough, there's a high chance they'll click to read your stuff.

    Automate your sniply tweets

Once you have all your Sniply URLs good to go, paste them into your spreadsheet next to the corresponding article on your site.

Then, like you did before, write up multiple tweets for each URL, so you can share these sniply URLs multiple times without repeating the same tweet over and over.

After that, head over to Buffer or Hootsuite and schedule these sniply URLs as well, using 1-2 relevant hashtags per tweet.

I also suggest using the '@' symbol to tag the author and/or website, to give your tweet more credibility and increase the likelihood of people clicking on it.

After that, just rinse and repeat for each article you write.

Now, every single one of these tweets has potential to increase your followers, drive traffic to your website, build your email list, buy your services, etc. And it's all automated once its scheduled out.

    A few more important notes

    1) I wouldn't follow a bunch of random people in order to get followed back. I suggest following influencers. Twitter will naturally suggest you to their audience as someone to follow. Then, based on who starts following you, you can choose who to follow back.

    2) Use 1-2 hashtags on most of your tweets. This will extend the reach of your tweets to more people.

    3) Mention people and websites whenever possible.

    4) Talk to people. If someone posts a really good article, quote, etc, send them a tweet saying "Nice article! Thanks for sharing" or something like that. It shows your human side.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
