Facebook ads, how much?

Hi fellow Warriors, hope you enjoyed the New Year celebrations.

Anyway, just wanted to post a quick question regarding Facebook ads. I recently ran a campaign for a CPA odffer and spent around $80 over 2 days for 200 clicks, none of which converted.

I'm just wondering whether anybody with experience reckons it would be worth scaling up my efforts by spending more? I understand that this is a bit of a newbie question and maybe one of those 'there are no right answer' type of ones but any advice would be truly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • No. Don't scale up that effort. Instead try and improve your ad to get more clicks. If you still get no commissions, you'll need to move on.

Keep in mind, the last few days have been affected by the holidays too.
  • I don't do CPA but in my experience FB ads have paid off about 50% of the time for me re: site visits and event sign ups. Each time the ad spend has been really low - $20 on average. So, I think $80 seems quite high. Thing is - do you think the 2 days was long enough? My most recent ad was run for 2 weeks and cost $27 - I got 52 sign ups but about 35 of those was near the end of the second week. Can you afford to go longer? If not, can you narrow your target more and lower the ad cost?
  • How are you currently targeting and what do your reports / demographics say? That should be a start. Did you also split test several headlines, images and copy?

  • In my opinion Facebook ads convert best if you link to a Facebook group/page. Then convert the traffic from there to you own website. So if you're offering an SEO service for example set up an SEO group or dedicated Facebook page for your site and then purchase ads which go to that page. Then link from your Facebook/group page to your website landing page. I've found this strategy works best. All the best
  • You need to target and target hard.
Must be your niche interested target..
  • If you failed to make money with $80, I wouldn't throw more money at it. The beauty of FB is how it offers 2 major devices - groups and pages - to derive traffic without any expenditure. If I were you, I'd learn to turn an income first from those, and with that knowledge, expand into FB ads.

  • 200 clicks is a lot without a conversion. I wouldn't be spending more unless you first determine why 200 clicks isn't producing any conversions.

What type of CPA offer are you promoting? i.e. lead gen, cost per sale, etc..
Are you direct linking to the CPA offer or linking to a landing page?
What is the ad frequency currently?
Is your targeting specific and well drilled for your target audience of your niche/offer?
  • Unfortunately in these situations unless you display the full extent of the information it is difficult for anyone to give an exact answer.

Critical things in a Facebook ads is the quality of the image (there has to be a high resolution image), the quality of the headline you entice people in with and then of course targeting the right people with the offer. Assuming you got all that right then the flaw seems to lie with the website, if it does not ooze, trust, confidence, compelling offer, etc then it will not convert.
  • Hmmm. I have feeling you didn't do things on the right way....

You need to give more information how you drive traffic...

Did you drive it to the cpa offer or you build your list first and then redirect subscriber to cpa offer?

The biggest mistake is if you didn't build your list.... all prospect are not interested into offer you send them to....
Most people who click on ads are looking for general make money opportunities and they are usually newbies..

So you need to understand this going in.
However realize people are not robots and they usually don't just buy on first ball.

Most of sales are made on the followup once you email them several times and find ways to overcome their objects.

If you want people to buy your stuff you need to explain why they need it, how it's going to help them, show social proof of other people get results(if you haven't gotten results) and find different angles to hit them with. You need to think out of the box....

Almost all sales are made on the backend.

    So this is my advice....
  • If I were you I wouldn't do a thing until I got someone with serious copywriting experience to look over the ad you're using.

  • I Feel all the paid Ads are all the same...

will get more impression , clicks ....no doubt ...

Conversate which what we want usually don't have..or even one or two..that it...

    as they say...

depend what niche ..or stuff you promote..that interest " your target audiences "
  • Well, there are marketers out there converting on way less than $40/day with FB ads. Before considering scaling up and spending more and more and losing money, I would look at how you have your ads setup, demographics, who you are targeting, and overall quality of your ad. You could budget $5/day with a really solid ad and start profiting pretty decently.
  • hi appy new year.
do not waste any more money until you learn face book. scaling up is not goign to help. the more fb see your higher budget, the more they will spend your money. you have to optimize your ads....it is very simple once you learn. go to youtube and type in getting cheap fb likes. FIRST GET THE LIKES THEN MARKET THE LIKES .......
YOU WILL BE SURPRISED. i am getting .02 clicks for sports niche
  • I'm not an expert in Facebook advertising but I would not scale that campaign up, at all.

Clearly something isn't converting. Most likely the offer itself, since you are getting clicks from the ad.
Without seeing anything it's hard to give concrete advice, but you're losing money on this offer since it doesn't convert at all.

I would make some changes, either in the offer, the targeting or the ad (or all) before I'd personally continue myself.
  • Not even sure why my post was deleted. Maybe the thread was deleted. Post it up in the social media thread. You'll most likely get responses from there.
  • Hi Near,

I've worked extensively with Facebook ads over the last three and a half years, and I can tell you that spending more doesn't necessarily mean you'll be getting a higher conversion rate. It also has to do with the type of copy you are using, the offer, the captivating graphic, it's more than just spend $ to get conversions.

What kind of graphic or eye catching feature do you have going right now?
  • I'd learn how to monetize FB groups and pages before spending further money on ads.

  • Do you know why they did not convert? What did your funnel look like? Would be hard to answer your question without knowing the details. Without details, the first thing that comes to mind is find out why they did not convert and what you could do to conver them. What was the CPA offer for? what kind of traffic did you target?
  • there is a right answer...the higher your budget, typically the more you will spend per click.
  • You can get it for free! Check WSO section, there is a product called "Free Ad Conspiracy". If you follow the system there, you can get the ad for free!
  • You can get it for free if you follow the method of a product launched to day at WSO section. It called "Free Ad Conspiracy"
  • That sounds like what happened to me, I paid for several ad's and MADE nothing and only a few clicks
  • Hard to say but I was taught to test small...

The lowest amount that you can get clicks at

and Split test everything your page your ads and keep going small until you find the highest

converting and then spend money on it.
  • Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to reply

It seems I did leave out quite a few details, didn't I? The ads I set up linked to a landing page created by a third party as I was promoting as an affiliate. I tested two different images and copy styles, one was more direct and the other was more of a 'click bait' approach. The latter got more clicks as you'd expect but unsure whether the "just get em through the door" method is better as neither converted.

The ad was aimed towards men, 18-65+, from English-speaking countries. Interests were entrepreneurship, investment and online casino...

It would seem that the consensus is to keep the budget low, test several different types of images and copy, and keep tweaking the targeting until I can find the optimal combination.

Wish me luck! Thanks again for helping me out with my newbie problems everyone
