Rising CPM Costs on Facebook, WHY?!? (Data Provided)

I've been experience rising costs on Facebook Newsfeed ads and can't figure out why?? I have this ad set on oCPM and to optimize to get most conversions.

My metrics have remained relatively constant, the only thing I changed was how much I spend per day.

Frequency is relatively flat at 1.1, CTR is around 3.5% and Conversion is around 16-18%.

Why would my CPM go up just for increasing spend? Is there any ways around this? Suggestions to combat the increased rates? Any help is appreciated!!

Facebook usuallys charges more when the CTR goes down. Try to change your image to avoid banner blindness.

    That's certainly a disappointment.

  • Is targeted for mobile, desktop or both?
Also, how many people is in your targeted audience?

How many ads are per set and how many sets?

      I had a few ad sets that ranged from 40k - 100k

I used 1 ad per ad set, I do this because FB doesn't give equal distribution to ads in ad sets. I take it you believe the number of ads in an adset makes an impact?

Yes, but if you make 3-5 different versions of the main ad by changing image or text, you will know which one is getting higher CTR, and that will lead to ow CPC or CPM. Facebook does not distribute equal ads, but as they are in the same ad set all ads are delivered to tha same audience and sometimes just changing image can make the difference. Once your ad has been shown to the same users the CTR lows and that is another reason to change images.

When you bid for CPM you need to make sure your ad is really engaging or you will end paying more.

If you owned an advertising platform that people wanted to use everyday, wouldn't you increase the prices as time went by?

    I sure as hell would.

Facebook can change the prices whenever they want and the reason could be simply because they can and increase their bottom line.

Is your promo directing people to a facebook page or to a page on your website? I've found prices to definitely be lower when keeping people inside facebook.
