Yes, you gain a HUGE amount of new customers using this specific method. Being 'gay friendly' and stating so adds a huge demographic with a lot of disposable income. This is especially true now that gay marriage is legal in most of the country.

You should also point out that being "gay friendly". Also means there is a certain demographic that will have nothing to do with your company. And this works with most things...not just gay friendly.

That's true with most things. The key is to jump on a emerging trend that has little opposition imho.

I agree. The only way to laser target yours ads is to inadvertently leave out another demographic. It's virtually impossible to please everybody all the time.

I am right now putting the finishing touches on my blockbuster idea. I hope to begin marketing it to the gay community next week.

I like the point about keeping an eye out for something catching a lot of publicity and catching a wave with your own stuff with the hype. Sound marketing strategy. And I agree you would need to way the over all affect on the business before jumping into any new marketing, viral or not.

Makes sense. For me it just comes down to the math of the particular move. I believe those who succeed the most in business are bold.

This is a great example of a niche specific campaign. I am not sure, mostly because I don't follow them anywhere, that Tiffany is on the cutting edge with marketing to gay people.

But whether they were early adopters or not, it is still a great example of marketing.
