If you're looking for free traffic, then Twitter and Google+ are better because they won't limit your reach. On Facebook, you must pay to play.

  • I get the majority of my social referrals from Facebook. My Facebook page has 8K likes and I have 25K followers on Twitter. Facebook has always been a better source for free traffic for me.

They are the two most popular social media sites so the better one is really the one you use the best. If you spend more time on Facebook socializing with your audience, then you would definitely get more traffic from Facebook. The same thing goes with Twitter.

I started using Twitter 5 years ago and only created my Facebook page for my site just 2 years ago, so I have more of a following on Twitter than I have Facebook likes.

It's definitely a lot easier to get a following faster on Twitter than it is to get likes on Facebook. So starting off on Twitter then funneling that traffic over to your Facebook page is a strategy that has worked well for me.

In my opinion, there is no better. Both are great. In twitter and facebook, people are looking for fun.

But which one do you know more about? in which one you spend more time?

So, if don't want to use both, choose the one you like more.

I'm in the self improvement niche, all I see is people marketing their services. Not particularly there for fun.

I mean regular users, not marketers.

Regulars users get in socials media to have a great time. They don't actively look for a solution to their problems. They use google when they need an answer.

I'm inclined to say facebook, but then again, it all depends on how you use it. In the end, both are good. Why haven't you used Facebook so far?

In my opinion both are effective to get traffic. But if you ask me to choose any of them, then I will go with Facebook. The one and only reason is the number of users.

For our sites, Facebook has done better in terms of driving traffic. But as mentioned a few times above, you have to interact and be active to make it work. Facebook's changes this year definitely impact what and how you do things.

We're not big Twitter users (though like many others our Twitter followers are much higher than Facebook) and our traffic seems to spike every once in awhile from Twitter providing a nice surge.

Just an FYI, Facebook's cost for ads doesn't have to cost you a fortune. You can test a couple things for $5 and get good results.

      Good luck,

  • I would promote on both because there are different audiences on both platforms. There is only so far you can go with free traffic. If you want to truly be able to reach people and scale your business you must venture into paid traffic.

Find a good way to monetize your website and start using paid traffic. Think, put in $1 and get $2 out of your paid advertising. Set your business up like that and you will put in all $1 you can find, plus reach, help and influence so much more that you can with just free traffic.

If you want to check out some cool ways to advertise on Facebook you can download some cheat sheets here.

    Hope this helps

    Enjoy

It al depends upon the niche that you are promoting, most of the people are on all social media sites, but teens are on Facebook where we get some good page views to our blogs.

I am using more Twitter than Facebook because of low likes on Facebook page

I find it much easier to use twitter for traffic as your information gets out there pretty quickly. It is much easier to build a following on twitter that it is to get page likes on facebook.
