I've read from Search Engine Journal that in order to get 10x more retweets you need to include the following on your tweets:

1. Colorful Images
2. Infographic
3. Humour (so they will laugh and retweet)
4. Useful content
5. Personal and real content

What can you say? Do you think these points can really generate more retweets and favorites?

    Of course!

Just think of all the tweets that you have retweeted.

If it made you laugh, helped you find something interesting, or better yet helped you learn or find the answer to a question you had then you probably retweeted and favorited it right?

Just replicate those type of tweets for your own and you will without a doubt get more retweets.

However, I do believe in order for you to replicate this type of success for your tweets easily, you must enjoy the market that you're in first.

If you enjoy it then creating content will be a breeze compared to a niche that you don't like or have no idea about.

Your opinion is cool man and I agree that we need to enjoy the niche in order to create really interesting content. Sometimes idea comes naturally if we really like what we're doing so the result becomes better than when we're force to produce content to something we don't really like. Thanks!

    Hi Nurz,

3 and 2 work best... especially if you can combine the two

All of the things mentioned above works. Social Media is a place where people interact with one another and if people can relate to your content/posts/tweets then they will definitely retweet it. Among the things above, I believe humor is very "pwerful" People use social media when they are relaxing/resting so humor definitely helps.

Visual content will work well on any of the social media profiles same with the twitter also. A strategy for the tweets and monitoring them will help you to enhance the content to be shared on the twitter.
Not just infographics, short and small infographics are going viral and are getting retweets.
Sharing more tweets regularly and having a variation in your tweets with some tips, general news updates, your business and other personal tweets will help your followers stay with you and get engaged.

I'll keep it short: avoid links, mentions and hashtags then do whatever you want.

Yes, they all do. Social media is for engagement, for building real relationships, and you get a whole lot of impressions on Twitter alone. Depending on your niche, Facebook can work for you too (although it clearly helps those who are prepared to spend money on their ad network).

Keep your engagement levels up and traffic should come in without you asking for it. Do let me know how it goes for you. If you so wish, download my free guide on Twitter Domination

There was a study done by Wharton showing that the more viral a piece of content is, the more emotion it stimulated in the reader. I.e. Virality correlates with emotion.

(It actually went on to show that the most viral pieces of content correlated with the amount of anger it stimulated, but unless you're really strategic and clever about it I don't suggest you make your followers angry towards your product or company just to get a few retweets)

So design your content around stuff that stimulates extremes of emotion. Honestly what would make your followers laugh out loud in their seats? What would make them bubble up with some warm emotions?

Once you ask those questions, the tactics will fall into place.

(Can't find the link to the study but if you google "Wharton What Makes Online Content Viral" you'll find it.)
