VIRAL method for gaining facebook followers..

In the last few years I've seen a few methods where people gain facebook followers insanely fast, just I wasn't sure if you could get banned for using them.

An example of the one I'm interested in is...

When PS4 came out it was obviously in high demand. Well a few people created fake Sony facebook pages posing as the company and creating a flyer that said:

"Sony is giving away 100 PS4's to 100 lucky people, all you have to do is like and share this ad"

Is this a violation of Facebooks terms. If you did this, it went viral, does facebook have a limit to how many likes you can get in a short amount of time even if they're real likes?

Just curious,

Thanks!

If you will try this one, you may not violate any Facebook terms (as far as I know) but you'll be tricking a lot of audience into liking your group.

You can't use those heaping numbers of likes if they just came from this kind of strategy.

What you need are viral contents. Create posts that engages well with readers. Do contests (that rewards your likers with real rewards). That will give you natural and hard earned likes that can be beneficial to your brand in the future.

Getting many likes is not a big deal if you can engage users with your content. Facebook is constantly changing its algorithms so your post will not show up in newsfeed.

I used the Sony one as an example because it was the first that came to mind.

What I'm looking to do is to legitimately offer free products in my niche and basically do the same thing. In the cooking niche, if I had a facebook page for my recipes... the equivalent would be me offering a kitchen aid to someone who shares and likes my page. The share would be a graphic with my logo and me with the kitchen aide.

The content would be totally relevant to the people who like and share.

    Thanks

In answer to your question: yes, it's in violation of Facebook's terms.

"Timelines and friend connections must not be used to administer promotions (ex: “share on your Timeline to enter” or “share on your friend's Timeline to get additional entries”, and "tag your friends in this post to enter" are not permitted)." (from https://www.facebook.com/page_guidel...ionsguidelines)

You can't require people to share something to enter a contest. And yes, agreed with fermark and Kawish. Even if it works, it's not really beneficial to you. Engagement is more important than number of likes to your page.
