No!! you should not share your competitors post because it will get them more followers and you will be left behind. And there is a chance that your follower will also follow your competitor

I share good content, if one marketer share a great content about one issue, i share with my fb followers, that way my followers know that i share good content with their.

If you see social media expert like Mari Smith, Amy poterfield, etc. they dont mind share other content, because they provide value to their fan.

    For Facebook I never did...

I would rather provide content, and have others share what I posted.

That's how you get the 'snowball' effect from all the shares.

(i believe many people refer to the term as: going viral)

I share content as long it is a good quality content. Maybe not exactly from the competitor, however, not content created by me and always crediting who actually did it to be fair.

You should share other people's content. If you don't, you look like a dweeb. Nobody wants to follow someone who just chirps about their own stuff. Remember: it's a social network.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

    I agree with Ghoster here.
Sharing your competitor's content is somewhat risky, but not doing it makes you look 'selfish'.
I do share other people's content, I just make sure it's relevant and interesting, and - surprise, surprise - some actually return the favor.

I don't tend to share content from a direct competitor, in my niche, in my area and of the size of my company; but I do share quality content from industry related news sites and blogs all the time.

No you should now share the content of competitor if you will share there content they will get more followers and traffic on there profile which is risky for you.

In Facebook yes you can add them it will be beneficial to your webpage visibility. Regular posting and adding friend or liking friend can be a positive advantage.

Aw, come on, that's a bit selfish, IMO. Sure, sharing other people's content might lead to your followers becoming their followers. But these are people who are already your followers! So, no harm there.

I do share the content of the competitors on the twitter if it really impress me. Actually I don't blindly share every competitor content, they might be my competitors but few are really good at there business rather than me. I usually find their content impressive so, I share it.
Few business competitors who are lower than mine I will not share every time because I don't want to give them unnecessary popularity by sharing it on my profiles. It depends on the content how am I impressed with it.
I even re-blog them if I am impressed with the content.

it depends on the niche your in, sometimes it might be a good idea to share your competitors posts if they are high quality and relevant and useful for your followers. This way you can also create a nice relationship with those people.
But generally you can go for relevant information on related niches and not you direct competitors.

You should not share the competitors contents which contains their website like. If you want to share the external content, you can share article from reputed sites like Entrepreneur, Forbs, Business Insider etc. The articles from these sites are source of information or updates they never contains any website links or promotion content.

I share others, when they are connected to my niche, but not when they are competitors to me.

For example, I have an automotive website and around 11k REAL Followers.
When I see a cool picture or comment on another page, I share/like/comment, but only when they are not doing the same as me.

I usually just share if I find it really really interesting. Or if I'm not lazy, I will just rewrite it and post to my site

I have shared my competitor's content in the past. I don't look as competitors as 'competition'. I try to difference my site from theirs and bring new and exciting content to the forefront. I feel like I can work with them and we can both gain from one another's exposure if we go about it in the right way. I'm not trying to compete- but to accentuate. So sharing their content allows my followers to get things I haven't had the chance to put out. I'd hope they'd view my content the same way and share it as well.

Yes, I share other contents like in facebook when someone is in need to share their post. For example, when I saw my friend's post that she needs to show the post to everyone because her daughter is missing I immediately share her content to help her find her missing daughter.

Absolutely; however, I share content that is industry-related rather than from direct competitors. For example, when I worked as a Social Media Marketer and posted for say, a dentist, I would post from the American Dental Association website rather than a competing dentist. Make sense?

Most of the time, you can find industry news for most niches. Try an aggregator like AllTop.com to find places to look. I posted for a range of businesses, and sometimes had to get pretty creative to find material. But yes, you should absolutely post content from other sources at a ratio of around 5 posts of others' content for every 1 post of your own stuff.

If all you do is post your own content, you will lose followers.
