any good options. Thanks, Ed.

This might be the hard way, but...

Pause the video on the image you want. Hit the PrtScr key on the top right of your keyboard. Go into paint, hit Ctrl+V. Save the image, then crop everything but the image.

The above idea works just fine (and is free), but SnagIt
is fun and easy to use if you have it

This is great information. My grandson is a skateboarder and he performs some amazing feats. he is constantly filming his friends and himself. He has some great footage that he uploads to utube all the time I wanted to get one of his best trick jumps and have it put on a T-shirt. His mom and I have been trying to get this done forever... and look...The Warrior Forum to the rescue. Thanks

Or you can save the video to your hard drive, open it up in something like VLC player and take a screenshot from there.

Print Screen is the easiest option IMO. On the other hand, my new Win 7 looks like it has a screen snag feature built in called the snipping tool. It works like snag it, however haven't really played with it yet. I'm guessing Vista has this feature as well.

    That's why I love my Mac =)

    CMD + SHIFT + 4

I actually prefer Irfanview, it is far superior to paint for cutting and pasting. And it is free.

By the way, do not save it in .JPG because the quality is crap, use .PNG instead.

Download/install Screenhunter (google it). Pause your youtube video, then open screenhunter, and click/drag a box around your youtube screen, and screenhunter will take a "snapshot" of everything inside that box. It will be copied to your clipboard, and also creates a jpg (or bmp) in a folder that you can specify.

If you are using Windows Vista/7 just pause the video where you want to take the photo from and then open up the Snipping Tool.

Once opened, use the tool to highlight the area you want a screenshot taken from. Hit save and save the image in whatever type you want.

Make it full screen then press "Print Screen" on your keyboard. Open Photoshop (or even MS Paint) and press CTRL V and it will paste your screenshot. That's the simplest way. There are programs that every1 above has mentioned which are more advanced.

Actually, you don't need any video editing software. Here's a sneaky little trick to get a screenshot of your video in just 2 seconds:

Let's say your video url is:

      youtube.com/watch?v=sUmooRyU0Bg

      So your screenshot will be:

      i.ytimg.com/vi/sUmooRyU0Bg/0.jpg

And here's a smaller version of the screenshot (thumbnail):

      i.ytimg.com/vi/sUmooRyU0Bg/default.jpg

The only downside of this is that it doesn't show "play" button in the screenshot.

      Hope this helps!

PrntScr (Print Screen) as everyone suggestion in windows.

    Cmd + Shit + 4 on Mac

Snipping tool for windows 7 and later for easy cropping.

I also suggest this small yet free tool called PhotoScape http://www.photoscape.org/ for easy photo/image edits.

Also, using default print screen function is always effective in this kind of scenario. You can hit the "Print Screen" button on Windows, or Shift+Command+3 for MAC OS users. And to add annotations, you can use Free Online Screen Capture.

Talk about reviving a post from the dead

I've found it easiest to hold Ctrl and then press the PrtScr button.

From there you can open up Paint and go to File and the paste.

That will give you a screenshot of whatever you took.
