Facebook vs Pinterest vs Twitter: What Should Publishers Use?

6 replies
Hi all warriors;
Today I read a nice article about social media and share it here. I hope you like it too.

Excerpt:
We all know that trying to conquer every social media platform is extremely difficult for many publishers, especially small to medium sized businesses. If you fall into this category you should think carefully about your audience and which social media tool they are more likely to use.

Here are some factors to consider:
•Age; Younger people are drawn to Twitter and Instagram, whereas moms are more likely to be on Facebook.
•Gender; Females are known to be more active on Pinterest and Facebook, whereas males are drawn to the on the beat Twitter action.
•Content; Is your publication information heavy, image rich, or news worthy? This will all have an impact on which platform will work better for drawing traffic.

The following sections will cover the three major social media platforms and how they can be used by publishers to market their content.

    Interesting data posted there. This isn't really anything new though.

    Yes it may be difficult to "conquer" each social media platform, but that does not mean that you need to limit yourself to just one platform. Plant seeds everywhere you can. Generally speaking, many sites do have different batches of people when it comes to the demographics, but that does not mean you should throw all of your eggs in one basket.

    I have a 90K Facebook page and a 8K Twitter page...Guess what attracts more attention to my content...To my surprise, the Twitter page.

    Why? Well honestly I'm not sure.
    My guess (in this case) is that the Facebook folks are there for a specific reason and that is to talk with friends and family. But when they're on Twitter they are most likely just bored and are more prone to procrastination.

    ^^ Point is, I put all of my effort into that Facebook page since it was working so well...But when I asked the people on Facebook to follow on Twitter, they did...and to my surprise it opened completely new doors for getting my content seen...Doors that I never knew were there until I tried This is just one observation. I have many different niches and accounts. All work differently and have success on different platforms. Just thought I'd share that one instance.

    In my view Should use all three and if you want to prefer specific one then it depends on targeted audience .

    Interesting insights, but in the case of targeting via GENERAL CRITERIA (age, sex, location), I don't think it's a good basis in choosing the right social media platform.I do agree with some of the points written there though.

    I think this mainly relies on what your target audience uses, really.
