I have to laugh whenever someone complains "they spied on my social media". People PUT all this stuff online - and then whine when it's accessed or when things don't go their way BECAUSE of what they put online. too bad - so sad

Amazon is trying hard to keep "paid reviewers" - "my buddy reviewers" , etc out of the loop. That's a good thing for buyers - and helps honest sellers, too.

This particular person has made a big deal over this including

as a paying consumer, I demand my review be posted
A bit full of it in my opinion.

She says in one paragraph she doesn't know this author - in another paragraph states she should be allowed to review books by authors she "rubs elbows with". Her contention is "knowing someone online" isn't the same as knowing them in person.

Amazon doesn't agree. Amazon owns the store.

I wouldn't call it spying. This is the internet.

I don't understand why Amazon continues to waste their time and resources on piddly little problems like this. One would think that a company of that magnitude would have bigger problems to work on.

If Amazon becomes known as the place whose reviews are biased or even false, it loses customer confidence and sales. And based on some of its recent failures (Amazon Fire, Prime Day, etc.), I'm sure it wants to do whatever it can to hold on to its current customer base. Fake reviews aren't the way to do that. Eliminating them (or at least, projecting the image that the company is 100% against them) is.
