cool, I 'm currently going to a teespring training program to try a learn.

Tried doing it myself. Spend over $100 and didn't make a single sale. Thought i was doing it right. Went into audience insights plugged in age and check page likes and targeted those pages with a relvant and engaged fans.

But.. obvious not.

@wolfmmiii are you promoting a post or did you choose likes as your goal?

Good job man! The other technique is promoting a Facebook post on your page with a possibility to get viral. I normally get as low as $0.01 per page like when the posts start to get viral since people are starting to like both my posts and my page.

A post like isn't nearly as valuable as a page like though. By liking the page, people are connecting with the page and will see future updates. Liking a post doesn't have that affect.

Where liking a post DOES help however, is that it can drive traffic. For example, Joe (a fan of yours) likes a post on your page. Joe's friends all see it and click the link, driving traffic.

Very interesting, Would you mind throwing more light on it? Are you generating income from Adsense? is your traffic from FB? i have pages with thousands of likes but not been able to monetize. would greatly appreciate if you could give some inputs.

I run several sites that get virtually all of their traffic from Facebook. Some are autoblogs and some are blogs that I update regularly by hand. Depending on the site (and audience I'm trying to reach), I'll monetize with AdSense, Amazon, Shopzilla, or Clickbank.

I sell advertising and some of my own products on one or two of the sites I own as well.

A fan page with at least 1000 fans is fully capable of driving lots of traffic to a website. You just have to be laser focused and provide top quality content that the fan base is looking for.

As of today, this same campaign has gotten my page almost 1000 fans and I've spent less than $100. The website is now seeing regular traffic and consistent AdSense and affiliate link clicks.

With proper planning and execution, the facebook thing is easy.

My product is a German-made cuckoo clock I designed and import, targeted at a niche enthusiast group. I started out last year on a whim, running a Kickstarter campaign. Sold 75 of them, then another 70 in a second campaign, solely through my personal reach on Facebook. No ads, just posting to friends who bought and shared.

Now, with a small inventory of my first design to sell, two more designs on their way from Germany, and an American-finished line under development, I'm putting the marketing pedal to the metal.

I've been running a video ad so people can immediately see the animation of the clock, targeting conversions, with the goals of people
1. watching the video of my product
2. subscribing to my newsletter.

My conversion rate is 1.19% for the past week, for example.

Am rethinking this as it is much easier for people to stay on Facebook and like a page, so I can catch more by keeping them there. Then, later, through posts I can entice them to the web site as new clocks become available.

So, I'm going to use the same ad and just change the objective. Will report back...

You clearly haven't run a successful Facebook campaign and are simply parroting something you've read.

Here are my results after about 24 hours with just one ad:

It's a video, so I don't want to change the image.
I will get into Power Editor (don't ask why I can't GRRR!) and change the line below the video image to "Quilt Shop Cuckoo Clock" and get rid of "Home Decor."
I was experimenting with putting the price/no price in but I think since I'm aiming for just likes I'll leave it without.
I chose a Lookalike Audience based on visitors to my web site. Surprisingly, I had just tried an audience based on pages that attract my target audience, but that didn't deliver as well. (Was aiming for conversions to a landing page though, not likes.) Added income and interest parameters to that, just U.S. as well.
Any suggestions are most welcome!

I'm not sure I like the idea of videos for a "like" campaign because you are now asking for TWO clicks (one to watch the video and one to "like" the page). I know Facebook is pushing video but getting TWO clicks instead of one can be as difficult as getting 100 clicks.

There is a reason Amazon pushes 1-click checkout. The difference between 1 click and 2 can be massive. I would try using a high quality image of the clock and change the wording of the ad to promote the page, not the clock.

I sell shirts on Teespring and Teechip and most of my campaigns are $0.01-$0.03 PPE with 10%+ CTR and 9/10 relevance scores.
Secret is targeting.Deep research of your niche and your fans and when you'll fond those golden nugget interests you will hit big!
Tip 1 - Look for high affinity pages
Tip 2 - Use Audience Intersect
Tip 3 - Create lookalike audience

Lot's of split testing. I was able to get my cost per like down to $0.04 over the weekend by constant split-testing images, ad copy, and demographics.

I start by targeting people who are interested in similar brands and websites and then I start splitting down from there. It takes some work but it's well worth it. My brand new Facebook page has over 2000 real fans now and it cost me about $130. The page is driving traffic and clicks to my website.

My plan is to pour a couple hundred into it to get it to 10,000 likes and then watch it take off from there.

So when you say you're running a like campaign is that your personal strategy or do you only pay if someone likes your page?

I haven't run a campaign on facebook in awhile.

EDIT: Also, to touch on your point of asking for two likes. Aren't you asking for two with one like, and also a click through to your site?

My "Like" campaigns use the oCPM (Optimized CPM) billing option. I pay per impression.

Regarding "2 clicks":

When I'm running my "like" campaign, I'm asking for a single click - the "like". I'll eventually ask for another click (to my website) later on with an eye-catching post that interests the fan. However, in each distinct instance, I'm only asking for one click, which is significantly different than asking for two (view the video + like the page) at the same time.

I use my own pics. I usually buy them from 123rf.com. I size my images at 1200x444.

Just use a larger image and crop it. Takes like 2 minutes.

I've never gotten a better number when manually setting CPC for a like campaign. oCPM has never steered me wrong.

Ok, this thread inspired me to try experimenting with Facebook ads for the first time and long story short, I'm starting to wonder if Facebook is scamming us. Why aren't any of the people who liked my page engaging with my posts? After running several campaigns for page likes, I haven't noticed ANY increase in engagement on my posts. My "reach" numbers, likes, and comments per post are exactly like they were before I started gaining page likes with these Facebook ads.

I've also noticed that many of the people who liked my page have nothing in their timeline that suggest that my content would be interesting to them - I mean, I'm getting some really oddball/random likes from people who I never would have suspected would like my content in the first place. I was very specific about my target demographic, but something isn't adding up here.

Has anyone else noticed the same things in their campaigns?

I rely 100% on Facebook for traffic to about a half dozen of my sites. It's also a significant driver for a few of my other sites as well. I've never experienced any issues. As a matter of fact, Facebook, for me, has significantly outperformed my expectations by far.

If you aren't getting a good response to your content, your content is the problem. It's not engaging enough to elicit a response from your fans.

Facebook has no reason to scam you. If their platform doesn't produce results, people stop using the platform for advertising. Pretty simple.

You are misunderstanding reach. Reach is determined largely by your engagement. If your engagement is poor (which you have indicated), your reach is also going to be poor.

I run about two dozen fan pages/online brands. I've also setup about another 30 for others. I have yet to see anything that indicates any type of fraud. Most of my US based likes cost me less than $0.10 each and my reach is typically 30%-50%, sometimes higher. My fans provide plenty of engagement as well.

Regarding what you've googled: the only people who complain about their results are the ones with poor results. Like I said, what's in it for facebook? What do they have to gain by giving you fake likes?? You need to think things through. There is no upside for Facebook to screw their advertisers.

@wolfmmiii - sorry, one more question. What do you recommend that I focus on for the time being? Paying for page likes or increasing engagement?

I suspect the answer is "both", but is there any point in paying for likes right now if I'm getting low per-post engagement?

Remember, when you run a "like" campaign, Facebook is going to show your ad to people who are more likely to like your page. That doesn't mean those people are going to engage with yor content, especially if it is poor or uninteresting.

What you need to do is focus on targeting your "like" ads to the EXACT demographic that would find your info useful. Then, you need to publish posts to your page that those people will find interesting enough to engage with.

For example, I run a pet site that has 2100 fans that cost me $0.07 each. The content I post revolves around health issues, training ideas, etc. these types of posts are seen as helpful and generate lots of likes and lots of shares. That's what you need to do.

When laser targeting people on facebook, do you have a rule of thumb on the amount of people you target? Like 1 million, 500,000 or even less?

Good tips and impressive results. I encounter a lot of people who think you can't get Likes for pennies unless you target cheap non-US audiences. I've also had similar results- targeted US Likes for .03-.09 w/ 9/10 and 10/10 Relevance on many accounts. Of course, it depends a lot on the niche and goals. I have some accounts that cost dollars per like (but also earn hundreds or thousands per customer). A lot of people don't know what they are trying to accomplish in the first place. This is a good example of testing and targeting earning quality results.

wolfy, I tried to target USA likes with CPM for likes, not for impressions, but my record was 0.23 per like. Tell us which option to choose, CPM or CPC?

Getting facebook llikes for 0.05 $ - 0.07 $ is extremely expensive,
and also remember that you must pay again each time you want them to see your updates,
by obligatory boosting the posts.

So it's perpetually paying all the time to Facebook.

That's why so many companies gave up on Facebook and are focusing on Twitter mostly

guys OP is right, FB is not trying to scam you.

The reason people come here and say it doesnt work is because they try 1 or 2 ads, and fail badly.

We are getting 2 cent likes, and I have to test, about 130 ads, to get there, and then upscale.

so you need to realise, TESTING everything is where the real money is, and in my 130 ads, I will usually find a 10cent like campaign, and then keep nailing it down, till I get like 2-3 cents. Then you do well, and upscale.

My point is, sit in your chair, and get serious about this. Lots of money to be made on facebook.

sit in your chair, and test, test, test, till you are blue in the testicles.

That is how you master facebook. Eventually you will find that right ad combination that hits the sweet spot, and you will be like WHOOOO HOOOO!

But I can tell you this is like a job, you have to test, test, test....and then after that TEST some more.

Plus we have noted the VIRAL thing kicks off after 1000 fans.

So, even if you have to spend 20cents per like to get to 1000 fans, that is not much investment.
