Building a Twitter Presence, Questions?

What's up everybody,

I want to build a truly REAL Twitter following to expose more of my music to new ears.

I have created a new Twitter account recently and have thought about getting some fake followers just to start off. My question is, what's the best methods to getting real followers and more importantly, engagement. I heard websites like Tweepi are great for following people to get follows back. I'm just curious to know if anybody else has any experience and tips for me? Maybe some do's and don'ts.

My goals.

1. Build a huge following within a year
2. Get engagement from those followers
3. Get Twitter Verified (not a must, just a plus)

Overall I want my art to be heard. I have the talent, I got the design, and I have a ok budget to invest in my music. Just want some advice from you guys here.

    If I was to choose my top 3 tips:

    1) Post engaging content
    2) Follow people in your niche, RT their posts and engage them in conversation
    3) Participate in Tweet chats for your industry
    4) Promote your twitter handle (your site, blog, other SM accounts, etc)

    Social Media, (no matter the platform) is, um, well, "social" in nature. In order to "get" you have to "give." So, if you're engaging, interesting, helpful, and play nice with others, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a massive following. It'll take time, though. Just be patient.

    Hey!

    Consider using Unfollower Stats.

    Once logged in on the left you'll see a simple menu.

    First "clean up" your Twitter account using the Unfollowers option.

    Afterwards just search for hot keywords in your niche. (Search Follower)

    Make sure to use the hashtag with the word.

    When I first started using Unfollower Stats it without a
    doubt rejuvenated my Twitter account.

    Continue to search for, and follow active folks related to your (music) niche.

    The best basic technique is a matter of acting like a real person. Follow people who interest you. Engage with them. Retweet posts that interest you. Share your own thoughts (when they're interesting).

    You may be seeing a pattern here.

    Whether for business or pleasure, people use social to find things that interest them.

    I've used crowdfireapp.com (formerly justunfollow) for years mostly for unfollowing non-followers. I really haven't tried to grow my follower account for years until recently when I decided to re-activate my Twitter presence.

    One of their tools is "Copy Followers" which I've been getting some sharp people lately as followers. Here is the description -

    - Be social - engage with others & those that engage with you (unless they are just wasting your time or being a douche)
    - Find similar others & follow them as well as follow people in their follower list
    - Follow people who retweet others content similar to your own
    - use hashtags
    - retweet others
    - add yourself to directories like Twiends & Twellow (also great places to find people)
    - use Topsy to your advantage (here's a great article on it - How to Use Topsy for Social Media Marketing )
    - create lists & add relevant people to that list (Example - punk rockers, folk music, etc...). See other people's lists to get some ideas. Here's more info in this article - https://blog.bufferapp.com/twitter-lists
    - pay close attention to what other "successful" Twitter accounts in your niche are doing
