Awful experience with Facebook ads. Anyone else had this happen?

Hi all,

Why Facebook, why?

Over the past month we've started to ramp our FB ads campaigns for an app. We managed to pretty well to keep our average CPI sub 40 cents, which we've found pretty good for our product/demographic.

Then out of the blue our ads randomly stopped running with not notification. Not even a single dollar spent.
We couldn't find anything we'd violated, our ads were pretty standard "picture with some text" about our app.

After getting a hold of Facebook they told us our account was "under review" and all ads would be stopped until the review was completed.
2 days later our ads were turned back on and FB told us there were no issues, their review was just a standard review.

Then a day later our ads stopped running again. Again we called and were told we're "under review".

Rinse and repeat for the past 2 WEEKS. To date we haven't been told why we keep going under review, we always pass whatever "review" is going on, and our ads are always turned back on without incident.

Anyone have experiences like this? What options do I have? Could some other factors be at play here?

We're burning time and losing thousands of potential users each day we have to go through this.

How Does Ad Review Work and How Long Does It Take
That’s it? Hundreds of thousands of servers and everything is manual
There’s no way to know exactly how the review process works but let me speculate.
It’s extremely unlikely, with the huge number of ads that gets published every day, that the entire Facebook Ad review process is fully manual.
Again these are all speculations, but I think they’re pretty likely. Analyzing some random accounts on AdEspresso, we often saw that the review time decreased over time.
Facebook’s rules are not that different from those of most advertising networks. Keep in mind that the following are just general rules. There might be specific limitations in some countries based on local laws.

Now that you know WHAT can and cannot be advertised on Facebook, you should also be aware that there are rules on HOW you can advertise your products

I think this is the reason.

If you significantly increase your spend from what you've been doing previously, then the account may go under review. It actually also happens if you start split-testing more than than you did in the past. It's kind of like an unusual activity trigger.

It's annoying but it is pretty standard; so, I wouldn't worry about it. FYI, AdWords does the same thing. It's because the giants don't have enough staff to call you up and ask what's going on - which is what smaller ad networks do when you start spending a lot more.

This is the downside to using Facebook ads or any other ad network. You'll just have to deal with their automated systems which can flag your account for any reason.

You always have the option to just promote your product using Facebook without paying for ads. Find groups that could be interested in your product and share an interesting article you might have posted on your website about your product or maybe a cool video showing what your app can do.

The point is you can still make sales without having to spend your money on ads you just have to change the way you approach your audience.

I'm very disappointed with facebook automated system. They rejected some of my ads without proper reason.

I am really unhappy with their customer support.

I recently ran two ads on FB. One was for 70% off luxury items on my site. I made a big mistake by not having a great target (I was greedy i guess), I spent about $1 a day on it, it got about 700 views and 15 likes (2 clicks) over a week. I had another ad that was more focused and got 2.5k views 80 likes (7 clicks). The add was a direct link to a store. Why people would like the offer and not click on it was mindboggling. I need to do some research on FB ads or waste more money.

yes unfortunately people click, Facebook take your money from your account, but then people do not follow up, and they do not become your fans... so you only spend your money, and that is all...
