I'm great, thanks.

Yes, I can. Create high-quality videos that solve the viewer's problem, even if that problem is just boredom. Do that consistently. Share your stellar videos across social media, particularly in relevant sub Reddits.

That's about it, really.

Finding a hack, like the now defunct 301 pump trick, to rank highly in YouTube isn't going to help if the quality isn't there. Likewise, people don't subscribe to a given channel because the YouTuber begs them to or uses annotations. There needs to be a reason to subscribe.

When trying to rank your video in YT and Google, here are a few key considerations:

1. Video File Name
2. Bounce Rate
3. Viewer Engagement
4. Backlinks' Quality
5. Uniqueness
6. Channel Name
7. Submitted Category
8. Video Length
9. Video Quality (HD Preferred)

You can also make a post about your video with a link to it on social bookmarking sites in order to get some nice backlinks that will help your video rank on google.

The formula for ranking on youtube is:

Good Title + description using prime keywords.
Comments on the video
And of course views.

To rank a YouTube video, you need to split this in 3 different phases:

a) Keyword Research

You will need to research the keyword that you want to target (Use the keyword planner to check the competition - in the videos section)

Depending on the competition of the keyword, your effort must be measured.

b) The basic video optimization.

Like:

Video filename: you should use the exact keyword you are targeting.
Title: Should include your keyword you are targeting
Description: You should use your main keyword in the description a few times.
Tags: you should use your main keyword as a Tag.

c) Marketing efforts:

You should have maximum of high retention views, comments, likes, etc...

Make sure u pic a good image. Just checkout all the youtube edm music and u'll get an idea for which mixes get the best clicks.

To improve the rankings of your videos you have to do two things:

A) On-site;

1) Title
2) Tags
3) Description
4) Keywords
5) Unique and excellent content
6) Excellent thumbnails

B) Off-Site
1) Backlinks
2) Shares
3) Comments
4) Number of times watched
5) Thumbs Up
6) Get social Facebook, google+, twitter

Always share across social media - videos are really easy to share, and people are always tempted to click on them. Make sure you are uploading content consistently, and if you are following all the advice listed above, you are bound to increase your rankings.

Lot of very good advise already given. My input about Keywords. Search using your chosen keywords and target results showing low competition. Check numbers of other videos for that search and how the top resulting videos are optimised.

And yes, get it out on Social Media to increase views, likes and shares ;-)

I found the following strategies helped me a lot.
Quality Video
Great Thumbnail
Relevant Title
Relevant Tag Words
Posting links on Google+, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Engage Your Viewers
Of course, having some sort of give-a-way never hurts.

1. Upload your videos in the highest possible quality
2. Choose a good keyword
3. Include your keyword in your title and description
4. Add relevant tags to your video inc. your keyword (spy on your competitors tags with vidIQ

)
5. Give your video an enticing thumbnail
6. Share on all of your social media channels to give your videos a boost
7. Embed into any relevant sites you may have (this is a signal YT take note of)
8. Add a transcript to your video

Thanks folks for all the replies..Here is what I understood from all the posts -

1. Good video - Good quality, Engaging content and good image/thumbnail
2. SEO - Keyword in title, keywords in content and relevant tags (including tags of competition)
3. Offsite SEO - Backlinks
4. Social signal - likes, comments and sharing on social media, external sites

Based on this, can you please tell me -

1.How the backlinks are generated? I mean the traditional ways of backlinks like bookmarking, forum profile links, edu links etc still work or they have negative impact now a days? If so, which kind of backlinks are good for video seo?

2. How can I get more views for the videos? I won't prefer to use the way of those fake views and likes as they can put videos/youtube account in trouble. Is there a legitimate and cost effective way to get views?

Increase the views and comments on your YouTube video. It might help you in increasing the ranking of your youtube videos. You also have to measure the user behavior in YouTube like how much average time user spent on your videos and from where your maximum traffic come from.

YouTube videos are the best medium to promote any business worldwide. It is the best marketing technique which helps to generate huge traffic towards a business instantly. What you need to do is, just post your video URL in high PR websites which will result in increasing the rank of it by generating huge views and likes on it.

Other than that if you are trying to make some new video than you must make it attractive and informative so that its viewers can feel satisfied after viewing it and can get the right info from it.

Youtube ranking is a lot about the keywords that you use. Upload Many many videos, even if they're 10-15 second videos (just not copied content). Use the same keywords in the title and description every time you upload a video.

What I've typically done in the past is the following optimization tactics:
1. Keyword rich title
2. Keyword rich description section (using up to 5000 words that is aloud). So many people don't do this as they undervalue the importance.
3. Link back to your website and social media, and link to your Youtube channel from your website and other social media channels.
4. Keep your cover art design consistent (your brand's colour, text placement, creative style)
5. Insert annotation call-to-actions through out your videos asking your audience to "Like" and "Share" your video
