It depends on your market. However, facebook is universal with lots of possibilities, you could offer here almost everything and to find a niche audience easily. If you have a budget to buy facebook ads, this could be achieved quite quickly. There are so many topics about this, just use search and you will find a lot of valuable information other W members left.

I agree with this. I think Facebook and Twitter is generally enough for getting lots of traffic. But if you still need more traffic then stumpleupon, linkedin and other social networks are worth trying. You just need to use correct methods of promoting to get traffic to your website.

It all depends, you can use Pinterest for promoting direct products displaying them as beautiful pictures, Facebook is a great tool to engage with images or videos and people will interact, just look at the big pages. They are connecting with their Facebook followers and then every 5-6 post they would promote something, that way they are not over promoting and still have a good organic audience that follows them.

You can use Twitter to target very good audience and Instagram also. The hashtags are the best way of finding the most targeted person. I would suggest Instagram it works for me very nice and it is very fast, while Facebook can take some time to build your audience. Do research and make the plan about what social media you should use. Test also Reddit, pick a related subReddit and the traffic will be amazng.

I am working on plastic surgery now and use facebook, twitter & google+. Among them facebook is working best for now. 3k+ post reach and 200+ engagement. Google+ is also working good but twitter is going down for my niche.

I think if you work on facebook then you will get some good result.

I agree with the other guys, it will depend on your target market. Research about your target market first and then start from there. According to studies, men tend to check their Twitter account rather than Their Facebook while women check their Facebook account rather than their Twitter.

I've had great luck using a pay-with-a-share type plugin to grow my Facebook following. After you get enough followers, you can work with similar pages by doing cross-promotion to grow your social presence even more.

Small images that easily explain concepts are great for Pinterest -- just include Pin It buttons.

Besides everything that has already been mentioned I know that if you find a really good youtube channel to affiliate with traffic will increase significantly, instagram's good as well. The point is that socail media traffic is useless if you do it only at desktop platforms, mobile socail media traffic is huge now and will beat desktop in few years.

If we're talking about best traffic from social media, definitely Reddit. Sure, it's a lot harder than most social medias but if you learn how to use it properly your website will be in for one heck of a ride.

People always write "Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter" but I doubt these people have ever tried Reddit... When was the last time you generated so much traffic your website crashed? Probably never. I've actually never heard of anyone doing that with any social media except Reddit.

And here comes the best part... It's 100% free.

Find the best subreddit for your niche, create a high quality post and post it to Reddit. Do it right and you might just end up with results like this:

Especially ith social traffic my favorite is Pinterest.
Why?
1.93% of pinners shopped online in the past six months
2.Half of Pinterest users make $50K+
3.The number of people who see your pins is greater than your number of followers

For paid advertising I recommend Facebook ads. For organic reach Twitter is great. Pinterest is pretty good if you can get enough followers and post good pictures that link back to your site.

I had the best success with Twitter and medium success with Pinterest and Youtube. My worst try was Facebook, but some people say that Facebook works good for them. I didn't try Instagram, Reddit, Stumbleupon and others. I suggest Twitter!
