40k IG account. Need help!

Hey guys so I have an account with 40k followers and it seems like it's come to a halt. It used to be a Disney niche account but I got tired of it so I changed it to just a general account I post What's cool life f-jerry. I've lost about 300 followers in one night is that normal?

Also what can I do to gain followers?

Well the people were following you because the liked Disney stuff. They either noticed you changed or didn't like the stuff you started posting. So a loss in followers is sure to come when the niche changes.

I have a "geek" Instagram and if I started posting all sports stuff, people who don't like sports will probably unfollow me.

To gain followers keep posting content relevant to your page, and reach out to other big accounts in that niche and do a share for share.

Did you buy this Disney account or grow it yourself? I will assume you bought it because you would have had the journey of growing it to 40k and kind of have an idea of what is going on.

Are you monetizing this account, if so... why would you just stop it?
I guess if you hated running the account that much then yeah, I understand. It should come as no surprise that people would start to drop off if you change up your content out of nowhere though.

If you went back to posting Disney stuff you'll probably start to get followers back again but if that account is just not serving you anymore you can always sell it. I'm sure there'll be people who would love to buy that account off you.

What ever your niche is in Instagram that's what you want to stick to. Also using hashtags related to your niche allows you to gain a lot more followers. You want to be posting to your account regularly if you stop for a day or two that's fine but missing a week or two can cause you to lose followers. If the account was about Disney that is the reason people followed you because that was what they wanted to see. If you are at all taking your Instagram serious there is no shortage of courses out there how to use it. Just do your research before buying and make sure its in your budget I have seen courses go from 25 dollars all the way to 600. Hope this helps

Thanks for all the helpful answers!

Just to answer a few questions yes I did buy the account. It was a disney niche account I changed it and lost a few followers. Like 1k but it seems to be picking back up again!

You should have kept it disney and created the new account seperate and then you can do shoutouts from the disney account to promote your other account thus growing the second one faster and free and letting people choose to follow you or not instead of forcing new content on them which will almost always lead to some loss of followers.

You could also use instagress or followliker to keep growing on autopilot. I use instagress and it works great but recently have been thinking of trying followliker as I have read tons of great reviews about it.

Yes it's normal. Some times instagram delete their some inactive members. For IG followers you just can post some interesting photos or buy from any sites. But beware there are many site who are giving fake followers.

Just an update went back to the Disney niche... Because of some of your suggestions. Seems like I'm getting less likes on the Disney content. But looks lot the unfollow rate has slowed down
