Is there that much SEO advantage to posting one-way links on facebook?

Hi all! I use Hootsuite to manage all my employers accounts and I recently was advised by our IT guy that I should post more embedded, one-way links to the web-site (directly copying and pasting the url from a web-page into facebook and using whatever picture it grabs). He said that it counts toward google rankings to have these one-way links. How much better is this than using a picture that I hand-choose and a shortened owl.y link on Hootsuite, which allows me to track clicks on hootsuite analytics? I feel like the pics facebook grabs are not near as attractive as what I choose, so though there may be an SEO advantage, it'll be less effective as an attention-graber anyway. Thoughts?
Thanks!
Christine

You better should use these, because it's dofollow links. Facebook is good, but if your post do not have any atention, then it's worthless. And do not forget to use G+ for your busness man!
