Alternative to google hangouts?

SOCIAL NETWORKS

Previously I used to use Google Hangouts to record a conversation with someone but they seem to have changed how it works. I am looking for some help on understanding how to use it or to find an easy free app that allows me to record conversations like that. Then I need to find a good voice to text program that will transcribe the conversations. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

I really don't understand why you're looking for alternatives to google hangout ?
check the help section in the hangout, and you will get all the answers.

for the other question about speech to text software, I really don't know any good free software,
if you want something like that you should get this app :

Skype was pretty much built for video conversations and is used by the majority of people.

Skype Recorder is great for recording conversations. After recording the video, you can separate the audio from the video - depending on your video editor. Or if you are in a quiet environment while on the call, use a USB microphone to record audio while you are on Skype. I haven't used speech to text during a live recording session, but you could try using Microsoft's (free) speech to text function while you are recording your Skype call...

  If you wish to get another tool that allows to proceed voice chat, you can try Skype or Tango. In order to record and save the calls/conversations, the audio recording program is indispensable. Check the free audio chat recorder if you don't want to pay.
