First is to increase you followers (targeted followers).

How?

By stealing your competitors' followers.

Using tweepi, search using your competitors' twitter handle. Follow as many as you can, I forgot if there is a limitation or not. (Post related content while doing this technique to make your account active)

Once you have thousands of targeted followers, start sharing your blog post.

This is one way to gain some followers ^^

Another thing that you can do, is direct message people who might be interested in the content you are sharing on your blog.

Just engage with people, and build good relationships.

Build up your Followers, with time. And be very consistent with everything!

There are not too many things you can do with Twitter, if you really think about it.

You can Follow people, Re-post tweets, leave comments, message people, and I think that is about it - right?

So what can you do with all these? .. think about it .. and come up with a simple strategy to follow, and DO A LOT OF IT!

Follow your strategies with consistency. Until successful, pretty much!

You can also do the same with facebook, by the way! ... I get some good traffic to my blog, from facebook alone.

You can also try Twitter scraper software to get details about the tweets, followers and following of particular users. You can scrape unlimited accounts details and use it for gaining more targeted follower.

Here are my five tips on how to work with twitter from an article I wrote a few months ago for one of my blogs. Hope it helps.

1) Start including visual content. It's no secret we're huge fans of visual content and it's been used in blog posts for years, but Twitter allows you to include it in your tweets these days. I'm sure you seen other people using this tactic successfully recently.

2) Tweet something more than once. If you send the same thing out more than once it won't upset too many people as it will be new to them. The ones who see something twice usually don't care anyway. You've also got to realize you'll have followers living in different parts of the world.

3) Pin your most popular blog post. Not many people do this and they're wasting a decent amount of traffic from Twitter. You should pin a copy of a tweet with a link to your most popular blog post. It will entice anyone who looks at your profile to visit your site and they could become a big fan.

4) Optimize each individual tweet. Put your copywriting hat on and try to come up with short headlines followers will want to click on. Take advantage of hashtags so people can find your account when they're using the search function. You should even style tweets with things like bullet points so they get noticed more.

5) Try to be patient. Building up a large amount of traffic from Twitter takes time, but you'll be on there communicating with your customers anyway. It will pay off in the end when you're less reliant on the search engines and your business can't die after an algorithm change, so start putting in the effort now using the techniques we've discussed today.

1. Use Snip.ly to post links that include an add to your blog post
2. Use Viral Content Buzz to give and get retweets
3. Reply to and mention as many people as possible
4. Pick a hashtag and post with it AND like/follow people from it

Those are my 4 best learnings from 1 month of hammering Twitter

Drive traffic to a blog with twitter by:
1. Tweet with image links to engage you followers.
2. Tease your followers. Don't give too much away about the content in the body of your tweet.
3. Share the same content several times without annoying your audience.
4. Smarten up you're the bio section of your Twitter profile.
5. Poll your Twitter audience by asking what type of issues they typically face. By showing interest in the challenges of others, you can create a circle of give and take that builds trust and familiarity among users with similar interests.
6. Consistently tweet the content of the other influencers in your niche.
7. Use hashtags related to the subjects of your blog posts so users searching for your expertise on Twitter can find your tweets.
8. Share your personality, humor, likes and interests mixed in with your professional content. And share a variety of insights on what you know and love to help others learn more about you as a real person.
9. Quotes from thought leaders, experts and well-known authorities will help associate you and your content with the recognized voices in your industry.

Post quality Tweets, use proper hashtags.
Use images and videos.
Find your target users and follow.
Interact with others by Tweets, retweet and replys.
