What is better for traffic Facebook Page or Facebook Group?

Hello mates,

I have a question

I want create a new facebook page or group for my website, its about tourism and i dont know what will be the better option if Facebook Page or a Group with active members, i want use it as main platform for social media traffic, what will be better for reach or promotion?

Maybe create boths?

Some tip will be appreciate.

    • In most cases it's best to create both.

      If you're looking to build a community, I'd recommend starting a group. They take much more time and dedication to maintain if you want to to be successful, engaged and growing but you'll build a much closer relationship with your community.

      Facebook pages are better used as a broadcasting tool. Most people who find you will go to your page first. You can use it to direct them to your website or group.

  • A Facebook page is good to get a following first that you can later divert to your group.
    Unless you already have a product and a huge following, a group would remain isolated. You might get some traffic but it does not mean that people will visit or use your website.

    On a side note, as an advice, make sure that your website and Facebook page/group has flawless English as grammatical or such mistakes drive many users away.

  • It depends on the type of content you are going to use to generate traffic.

    1. If you are going create blogs, videos and infographics to generate traffic, then create a Facebook page and share them in your page. Remember, you can boost your posts from your page but not with groups.
    2. If you are going to create engaging content, then focus on groups.
  • I believe it's the best to have a public fanpage and a private group for the vip members or just a special content you want to share with the most loyal fans. This will make sure that your content reach as many of your costumers as possible, because often fanpage doesn't let you organicly reach all of the people who liked your page, so group should help you to reach even more of your fans.

  • From my own experience, I don't get much traffic from Facebook Group. For Facebook Page, I able to get the targetted traffic I want through facebook post boosting features.
  • I am in the process of developing both. I started with a page and I am now at a stage where it has nearly three thousand likes. I have noticed that there are similar groups with a good community sense so I am going to make a group in the future based around the market I am in where anybody can post (although it will be moderated by myself) but I will have the benefit of being able to post whatever I want.

    As previous posters have said, a page is like the face of your business on Facebook and a group is more of a community. The use of both means your business can be involved in these digital communities.

    I've created a page, but after 2 months decided ti create a group too. It works great in complex.

    • Page will be a great way for getting the word out about your website and information on what you have to offer. It's a good way to build a good following and great for paid traffic. Group is a great way to build a community about the topic of your interest. It's a great way to get some traffic as well but you have to build a good size group to see any results. I get great traffic and results just posting good content in groups already istablished in my niche.

    because you have to build content, many content for page. if content is not attractive, your effort is out.

  • Well both the methods are useful to attract targeted traffic, But Facebook page has more potential to work well as compare to Facebook Groups. Sharing posts on to many FB groups can seriously affect your account. So, while sharing posts on Groups you must read the rules first.

  • A page is good but you can't get live conversation like in groups, if you are popular in groups then your page will get more fans, just according to me....
  • I personally think a group will be better. If you can
    1. Create the facebook group page.
    2.Send loads of Facegroup real human members via purchasing huge volume to the group page so that you rank on your search term on facebook. (You can communicate with me about this)
    3. Invite those on your facebook profile also.
  • I think you should have both because both of them are good to get traffic for your site but you always need to keep them updated and add good and relevant material and articles.
  • Group is much better. Reach is higher in the group. I'm owner of both fanpages and groups, and my fanpages has reach about 3-8%, but groups 20-40%. So if you have fanpage with 1K fans and group with 1K members, you will have 7-15 times more traffic from group. Big disadvantage is that you cannot use FB ads to promote your group, so it is more hard to grow.

    The only thing with fan pages however, is that only 1-2% of your fans will see anything you post. So if you have 100 fans, only 1 or 2 of them will actually see your newest post.

    With a group, everyone will see your stuff! However you need to be somewhat careful as a TON of spammers blow up groups with useless crap nobody wants…just saying!
