Hi guys,

I manage an educational YT channel that shows people how to cook. Videos are ranking well and things are going pretty decent. I'm looking for more traffic though...

Would you recommend uploading the same videos to vimeo and creating the same channel on vimeo with the exact same videos? Could this hurt my SEO results for duplicate content?

Is vimeo worth it? I know the viewers seem to be more educated, less trolling, more loyal, etc but now with the $200 a year and upload space limits, is it worth it?

What would you recommend?

Thanks guys!

JT

Well, I would recommend you to upload to as many sites as possible, tubemogul can do this. More videos =more traffic. No harm to rankings. As Google cannot read video file.

as your target is traffic from videos, you must upload videos in different sites, Vimeo not allow promotional videos which are created for traffic purpose but with pro account you can play openly,
for better optimization you can try different titles and descriptions for videos, it will increase your chances to get ranked same video with different keywords.

    Best of luck!

I'm in a similar situation with my graphic design channel. Everything is going great on Youtube, but I'm hungry for more and looking elsewhere.

I think Dailymotion seems promising. It gets more traffic than Vimeo and also allows you to earn revenue from videos you didn't create as long as they're posted on your own site, so if you have a blog that you like to send your YT viewers to, you could earn a little extra by posting other cooking-related videos that you didn't create but your audience might appreciate.

I can't vouch for it yet as I'm currently in the process of giving this a go, but it seems like it's worth a try.

Dailymotion shows promise, I agree. Not as much as youtube but more than vimeo...for me anyway. I haven't tried it but there is also metacafe.

I prefer Youtube but I agree with the others.
If you spread your videos with other website. You will have a bigger chance to earn more traffic to your channel.

Youtube is good for SEO. Yes and it can affect your SEO too. So you should go with the youtube only. But you can start doing promotional videos on other networks to promote your youtube video.

I suggest that you upload your video to different video sharing websites.

Yes you can. Try to upload the video content. Google can not read video content. However you should change the title and description for Vimeo or other video sharing.

i don't think uploading same video in different video directories is bad for seo. go for it and differently it will help you to get more traffic.
