How to find someone successful @ blogging, facebook ads, etc

Hi -

I was wondering, how would you go about finding someone who is actually 'successful' at 'making money' through blogs, or facebook ads, etc, etc? I know there are a lot of 'products' out there with (photoshopped) earnings as 'proof' - but I mean, actually successful? (I've purchased a number of things, applied a number of things - but in many cases it just seems to be repackaged content from someone who wrote something for free, without really knowing what they were doing either).

Doesn't have to be a 'lot' that they are earning, just say $500/month net through a blog, or say a 110% return on any money spent on facebook advertising.

I'd genuinely like to learn from someone who is successfully doing that - and don't mind paying for the teaching. But - I'd just like to 'know' that they are actually successful at that.

Any ideas how to approach that?

You found one But honestly it takes a great deal of work for a blog to hit the $500 a month mark. I should say work plus a good amount of time SEO is not over night by any means and often I consider blogs to take at least 3-6 months before you start to see any real drive from SEO. Also it takes a great deal of split testing, the right offer, right price point and testing to put $1 in and get $1.10 back out.

Not saying it cant be done but you should expect a rather high investment before initial returns these things don't build themselves.

    • HI Sean -

Re: the blogging - do you have a simple blueprint? I.e.,
      step 1: write article
step 2: use this software, do this
      step 3: do other stuff
step 4: eventually see traffic, sales from adsense/affiliate products, etc?

Re: facebook. Yes... I've been "trying" - but it just seems to be an incredibly time consuming process. And I haven't yet figured out any 'magic' formula. (Right now - my costs are too ridiculously high - $1+ page like and/or click through). I'm just wondering how some people are currently making an actual ROI on facebook advertising. Any suggestions/guidance on that?

      Thanks!

More than anything, you need to focus on actually providing good content on your Page. If it's good enough, people will start liking it, sharing it around and things will start moving.
If you have a niche of passionate people, you have to figure out what they'd like to see and take it from there.

In my experience, the difference between having nothing work and having things work beautifully is sometimes very, very small.
In other words, you don't need to do ALL the things right, even one thing working in your favor can drastically change the story.

Anyway, I hope you've figured it out already and you're spending much less now on building your page!

In your shoes, I'd take the following approach.
    • Decide on a specialism.
    • Setup Google Alerts for the specialism.
    • Throw relevant searches into WF.
    • Pour over the WF threads you find.
    • Make a note of authority figures.
    • Purchase their eBook first, if they have one.
    • If required, approach them for coaching.
Successful IMers never spill the beans on a marketing forum. Never. You'll never be able to discover the entire length and breadth of their operation. Never will you have the slightest insight into their true income levels. Good reason for it: competition.

What you have to do, OP, is read between the lines.

It takes a lot of patience to be successful online but it's not impossible. However, many things you'll have to understand and learn on your own. It takes determination and actually starting and doing something. Once you get to see the results (bad or good) you will understand the direction.

I think that it's interesting that you want proof of someone's success before you buy or take their training because you don't believe most or any of their income claims. You say that they don't really know what they are talking about despite selling these training systems.

But it appears that you are doing the same thing you accuse others of doing. You are selling a number of products about how to make money online but apparently aren't successful doing what you preach.

    Funny stuff.

If you aren't making money with what you are selling then take it down until you know how to. That's the decent thing to do.
