Reddit Marketing Strategy

Recent few days I am thinking about reddit marketing which is largest social promotion. But there have strict rule of working there, most disgusting thing is shadow banned.

Anyone know about proper way of reddit marketing ?

    Reddit, like you said, is a very powerful source of traffic.

    The problem is a lot of the members there are very, very suspicious of anything that comes close looking like spam.

    If I were you, I would focus primarily on studying Reddit and where the main sources of traffic are.

    I would also pay attention to content that is consistently shared by members of Reddit.

    By paying attention otherwise commercial content that they share, you can then put together content strategy that would allow you to pull traffic from Reddit without becoming suspicious.

    I would apply a 10 to 1 ratio when posting stuff on Reddit.

    Find stuff on Twitter that people share that is related to your target niche, go to Reddit and share that materials, and then for every 10 shares, share a link from your blog.

    Now, if you get too greedy and all your Reddit shares are from your blog, chances are you will be flagged as spam where it's not going to pan out for you.

      Yea reddit is very strict to ' spammer " but I think is ok just post your blog link provided not more than 5 per day should be good.

    There's a good reason for that. They want to avoid Reddit becoming a place where everyone is trying to sell/promote something.

    Seriously, there are much better places to promote your stuff than Reddit. The time you spend vs. the payoff won't make it worth your time. There are a few subreddits that might be okay to do this, but the communities are pretty small.

    If you're trying to link in the large subreddits that could result in a lot of traffic, I just don't see it happening.

    I know this isn't what you want to hear. But I'm trying to save you a lot of time. I've been a Redditor for a long time and know it well. They've been cracking down hard on this sort of thing. Trust me, if it was effective I'd be doing it myself.

    Look into other ways to promote your website. There are TONS of ways to drive traffic that don't require trying to covertly sneak links into a forum that is hostile to such things to begin with.

    Just my two cents.

      3 Times I started to be a good redditors but every time I failed to get reach my goals. After few post I was shadobanned. So disgusting to me.

        Disgusting? You play in their playground, you play by their rules.

        As a very long time redditor I'm happy the threads aren't filled with spammy messages.

        They do have sponsored links that you can buy relatively inexpensive. This might be the best way to go on a site like Reddit.

            I really like Reddit for being so strict. Just don't blatantly spam, seriously help other people and THEY will PM you asking for advice (I received like 10 pm's this week after just one comment, not even post). Also if you post a link make sure it actually benefits people in that subreddit.

            It's amazing how often people try to cheat instead of simply providing some real value.

              Reddit isn't just a platform, it's the very definition of community.

              There are social rules that govern the success of that place. If you don't know those rules (and I'm not talking about the rules of Reddit, I'm talking social rules here) then Reddit is the last place you want to try and drive traffic.

              They can be BRUTAL over there.

              However, if you share something that legitimately clicks with their "vibe" then you've got a geyser of traffic waiting for you. Like, server busting levels.

              My tip:

              Go full hipster if you want to succeed over there.

    I agree with BradVert. The rule of thumb from Reddit editors is that you might get away with posting one self-serving link out of every 10.

    Reddit is a great source of traffic to use if you know what you are doing...

    Like any other network, providing value is the key to making it work!

    So don't go in there spamming your link because it will not benefit anyone, and you will just find yourself getting banned.

    The correct way to get the best results from reddit is to interact with it. Post incredible photos, videos, ask for help or suggestions (and be prepared for answers you might not have expected!) .

    Upvote relevant comments (by pressing the orange arrow beside each comment or post), and leave your own comments.

    Upvoting is what helps your content get to the top of the heap. It’s the same as other social networking features (Digg, StumbleUpon, etc.) in that the more you have, the higher your post will go and possibly make it to the front page.

      Your tips is nice but the process will take very long time. As if I have completed the steps but when I posted any links it Shadobanned me.

    This is very funny to me.
    People are complaining that their spammy tactics are not accepted on Reddit.

    When joining any community you should know that you need to play by their rules.

    The way to do this and be successful is simply by engaging.

    There is no secret or twist.

    Submit useful articles, pictures, videos. People will appreciate your links and accounts.

    As people have mentioned already do not submit your link in a spammy fashion.

    Submitting your link between 15 other links will look a lot better.

    I try to submit every single day a few links. On the weekends i'll allow myself to submit one link from one of my websites. This assures me that there is no way anyone would think i'm spamming, because i'm really not.

    Again - There are no tricks or tips. no magic recipe. You want traffic ? work hard for it and most importantly learn to enjoy it and stop complaining.

    Like with anything the first is knowing your demographics. Reddit is mostly young male base college people. You need to provide value and not just say buy this because I promise it will never work.

    Something like a live video with you playing a popular game and then directing people to another page can work extremely well with reddit!

    If you do find a good way to market on reddit then please let us all know because from my experience reddit is one of the hardest platforms to market on.

    People do not take to kind to people promoting affiliate products or promoting their business on reddit. Through my experience on reddit users like things that are funny or things they criticize.

    Yes, reddit has really strict rules. In order for you to successful utilize reddit's massive traffic source you should provide relevant and engaging posts to your target audience. You should only link to your blog once you have provided a post with value. It can be entertainment value(if that is your blog's primary focus), educational value or something relevant.

    Reddit is a potential source of tons of traffic, but I think it's hard to use if you are not an expert on it. (like many other platforms)

      I always get a kick when a site/platform/community doesn't allow spammers and wannabe spammers to pollute their digital property, and the wannabe spammers moan about the "disgusting" things the owners do.

      While I haven't had time to do much with Reddit yet, I believe the principles are the same with any community. When the time comes, I'll share links to content on my site if it adds to the conversation (like linking to a post explaining a particular term or process). I'll also spend plenty of time sharing other resources I find of value, just because they add value to the conversation. Which means I'll be active in reddits and subreddits related to my sites, so that the connection is obvious.

      If there is also a lead capture offer or some other self serving item on the page, so be it, as long as it's not the main reason for the link.Or if someone decides to spend some time further exploring my site, that's fine with me. I'll even suggest some related pages.

      We have a few redditors in this thread. Am I on the right track with Reddit?

    Yes actually. There are 2 key elements when promoting anything online. It's not exclusive to Reddit, so I don't know what all the fuss is about. Actually, I do, but it doesn't matter right now.

    1. You need to make sure that you're in the right subreddit. If you're promoting something to PC gamers, then you need to be in the /PCmasterrace subreddit...not the /funny subreddit.

    2. You need to look unaffiliated with the share. It's fine to post whatever as long as it's relevant and you don't appear to have a vested interest in the share. If they can "make" you as a self promoter with a vested interest, then that's where bad things happen.

    Also, as a side note, your reddit profile needs to have some content and engagement that isn't promotional. If your profile was created that day and you have 0 posts, then people will "make" you really fast as a no good spammer.

    Common sense, people. Common sense. Be smarter than the average bear.

    Well, i am mostly going to parrot what everybody has said about reddit. Since most of them have already covered the key points. If i might add.

    Reddit is good. But dont make it your main way of getting traffic. If your starting out with reddit make sure you nurture that account. These guys wont let you post unless you built something credible or have enough "Karma" its kinda like Quora points/credit whatever. Anyway, its a pool of traffic you just have to know where to dive. With that being said, Reddit is divided in multiple sub-reddits.. Each subreddit has its own community for a specific topic.
