blogging about being homeless via tumblr. any traffic tips?

I'm gonna be blogging about my endeavors on tumblr. I can't use my Facebook or Instagram account for traffic because my family will have a heart attack if they find out that I'm not really moving in with my buddy Avery.

Any tips? Personal methods?

    Hey Cheiks,
Interesting angle you are taking here.
Stuff like this can go over big if you get a little momentum. Some virality and exposure can get this going.

Btw, just curious you say you are a huge success but are going to be Living in a car ?

Just not sure if this will be Believable. Some might call you out on it. If you are truly living in a car you need to stick by that and stay consistent.

Do not be like those people who stand out and beg for donations at Exits. And then at the end of day walk off to Caddie parked behind building

I moved to the Big Apple to reinvent myself into a bubbly, happy, beaming human being
Curious - where did you move FROM? Why go to NY where the cost of living is humongous?

I expect the bubbly/happy/beaming part will go out the window after a few weeks of living in a car...in the cold, in the heat, no bathroom, no bed...

Maybe it would be better to find a second job to afford a room somewhere - or to move to an affordable city. Becoming homeless is easy - coming back from that can be extremely difficult.

There are quite a few 'homeless' blogs found online. They all are filled with "my paypal isn't active now" and "I can't post here often"....and discussions of sitting for hours in a McDonalds to stay warm.

Wow - you'll show them, all right. Being homeless might make you grow up - if you survive it.

Please do not 'release balloons' for celebrations. The balloons and trailing ribbons entangle birds and kill wildlife and livestock that think the balloons are food.

I moved here from Florida, the Sunshine State. I'm an artist who likes to meet other artists. So far, I've had some amazing experiences, and I've found a really cool job in my industry. But I'm at the beginner's level, so the pay is really inconsistent. On rare occasion, I've been paid $400 for a few hours. Other days I've been paid $45 for the same amount of hours. Comes with the industry.

I took a tour of a 24 hour gym with shower stalls, toilets (of course) and a sauna. It's $80 a month. If it gets too hot or cold, I'll go there, or to the storage space that I'll be renting out. Both places provide nice, slow wifi as well. And also, I work for a company that does yacht charters, they've given me access to the smaller yachts, and also the engineering warehouse which has an air system. It's not uncommon for me to stay there at odd hours doing inventory, and bringing my friends.

As for a bed, I'm putting down my back seats and inflating an air mattress half way for a "bean bag" level of comfort. If I feel the need for a real bed, I've got friends. They have beds. I figure, as long as I don't stink, and I keep the right attitude, I'll be fine.

Definitely good points to think about. I've thought about every angle and figured out a solution for 70% of them. I figure the other 30% will be solved in crisis, like normal people do.

Lol I said I moved to New York hoping to reinvent myself into a happier person. And in that endeavor I have been extremely successful. My financial situation is definitely not feeling the same success.

I won't be asking for any handouts. I'm choosing to live in my car because I had been working so much that I was never home. I'd come home really late, sleep some, then wake up in the morning to do it all over again. Obviously, my paychecks aren't super buff because I can't make rent next month. So to eliminate the problem of spending most of my earnings on rent, I'm eliminating the bill altogether.

Thanks so much for the advice my friend. I'll be researching how to get exposure non stop

Hey, I'm Rachelle, but please oh please call me Cheiks!

Nine months ago, I moved to the Big Apple to reinvent myself into a bubbly, happy, beaming human being (Say that fast, three times). And I have indeed succeeded. Thanks in advance for all your congratulatory remarks. It means a lot. Next month, I'll be living in my car, because a girl can't afford rent! And I also refuse to spend 99% of my earnings on a tiny living space that I'm never ever ever ever at.

Anyways, I'm gonna be blogging about my endeavors on tumblr. I can't use my Facebook or Instagram account for traffic because my family will have a heart attack if they find out that I'm not really moving in with my buddy Avery.

As someone who was homeless for awhile (thanks to my own stupid decisions) I would say you are making a HUGE MISTAKE.

Not saying you won't succeed, but your chances of succeeding are ALMOST ZERO. You should focus more on finding steady employment and roof over your head before investing extra time or money into an online business.

I really hate being negative so I do apologize, but some people need to hear the truth rather than sugar coatings...

Unless you have solid plan and experience in place, then you are really making a huge mistake!

GOD I hope that nobody is dependant on you for food in their mouth or anything because you would really be letting them down right now.

This is very typical attitude I see in a lot of newbies. You sound like you are willing to RISK IT ALL by skipping a rent payment or quitting a day job, just to try and make a living online...

this is by far the most dangerous idea newbies ever get in their heads.

What you don't realize is that SUCCESS WILL NEVER COME AS FAST AS THE INTERNET MOVES. You can do a lot online in one day, but it takes many days of consistent effort online to see results steady enough to depend on for your rent and food.

the month will FLY BY faster than you think and you'll be homeless for more than just a month or two because you are putting yourself in a hole so deep you cannot climb out!

If you really have a friend willing to let you move in you should do that rather than be homeless.

Again this is not to be negative but to warn anyone else considering such a risk.

Thank you for your honesty! I do have a job, and I'm working on getting a second job. My interview is tomorrow. Income will be flowing in no matter what. I'm not quitting everything to blog myself rent money. I don't think I could even blog myself pocket change. Internet marketing is not my career. I'm in the entertainment industry. I'm just asking for advice on how to get traffic to my blog. This forum has so many great minds. I would like to put my membership to use, for the blog. Let's focus on the blog.

Have you considered about creating your own youtube channel and make vlogs about that? I believe that this would bring some good traffic and you could monetize videos with adsense. And create blog as well, which will get you more traffic.

As well you can use reddid to get some free traffic to your videos or blog posts, if people are going to like it you will have good success with that. And good luck

Being homeless will definitely play on you. I would find a roof over your head that had the basics that you'll need. Shack up with other artists that are in the same boat as you. Trying to make you a name. NY is NOT safe to be living in your car.
