Is FB ads scamming with false clicks?
I just started doing it and spent 15 bucks so far with 44 click, avg. CPC 0.37, but when i open my analytics i see only 6 vivsits from fb!!! All the other traffic is direct.
What's wrong?

Well I am no expert on facebook advertising SC, but I have had alot of luck recenty with facebook page like campaigns and funneling that traffic to an opt-in or an offer.

So all I can say about it is, Audience Insights is awesome and facebook advertising can definitely make you money if you are doing it right.

      Thanks!
Actually wanted to know if this clicks which are reflected on the fb stats for the ads are real because the ad stats are saying the ad drove 44 visits to my website but when i open analytics it says only 6 visits came from FB...
I am a little confused and is not probably not the case (fb scam) because fb is a reputable company but maybe i am not understanding analytics correctly...

        No, facebook isn't "scamming" you.

Folks, before you ask these DUMB questions (sorry, there ARE dumb questions), please ask yourself WHY they would "scam" you and what they would have to gain after it became known that they "scam" people...

        Ugh...

Your counter sucks. That's your problem.

I wish people would stop throwing the word "scam" around every time they encounter something they don't understand.

There is no need to get all riled up. He may have wrongly used the word scam, as facebook making a mistake would have been the right term, but anyone would have that kind of worry if they experienced something like that.

He said his analytics say only 6 visits came from facebook, not that he got less than 44 visitors. The chances of his analytics making erroneous report on where each click came from is higher than it's chances of mistaking the number of visitors he got.

I am saying, as long as his analytics didn't say he got less visitors than what facebook said they sent, he should be less worried about facebook making a mistake and be more concerned about whether his analytics is accurately reporting where each visitor is coming from.

            Why!?! Simple answer. Money!

As Harry said i probably shouldn't have used the word scam, i dont think a multi billion $ company will take the risk of scamming people when they are already really succesful but i have also heard about fake clicks and stuff like that that's why i asked.

He gets riled up at the word scam and he is tired of people using the word scam for EVERYTHING that they don't understand! You made no constructive comments and nobody cares that you get frustrated at the word scam.

Actually, that response is one of a place of ignorance. It is relatively well known that FB sends fake clicks. If the analytics software was an issue it would be seen across all traffic mediums. We saw the exact same thing on our FB ads.

NOTE: These fake clicks are coming from the Facebook site but are NOT being driven by Facebook the company. They are coming from bots and clicks farms that run rampant on their network.

The only way to combat it is to try as much as possible to target real users vs. generic interests. Target people that follow very specific pages with a narrow interest in your target niche. Could be competitors, magazine or association pages in your niche.

          Good luck.

No, not for money. They have FAR MORE to lose than the $50 they scam you out of when it comes to light that they "scam" people.

Asking about the discrepancy is one thing. Asking about a "scam" is quite another. You heard about "fake clicks" from someone wearing a tinfoil hat.

LOL. Apparently YOU care that I take exception with the use of the word "scam", since you took the time to reply.

The whole gist of your initial post is what I have the problem with. Instead of thinking it through, your IMMEDIATE thought is that they may have scammed you.

I say it again, i shouldn't have used the word "scam". And to be honest this wasn't my first thought.

If your website is on Wordpress you can use a redirect plugin like PrettyLink that shows clicks with IPs. If not, or if you afford it go for ClickMagic which is some of the best link trackers I've used.

I certainly don't have "financial freedom", by any stretch - that's a term you'll hear self-appointed "IM gurus" use. I'm not one of them. Internet bully? Nah. I just call it like I see it. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

    About that bully thing....

There is only one person in this dialog who is doing the name calling. HINT: It's not me...

All I did was tell you your question was dumb - which you basically agreed with by saying you already know they aren't scamming you. If you already know they aren't scamming you, the question is dumb.

You really should be more worried about the header tag mess you have going on as well as the speed issues of your site. When someone other than me comes along and explains to you how to get $0.06 clicks/fans, it's not going to be much help when those people can't access your site before dinner time.

"It's well known that facebook sends fake clicks"

Your words, not mine. I can read just fine.

Your $5/day testing is invalid (yes, an assumption - but likely a good one).

Your whole premise about "targeting" tells me you know very little about Facebook advertising because you say it like its some secret sauce. Anyone who knows what they are doing knows that you should be targeting people who like similar interests and pages to yours.

And for the record, How would that have ANY effect at all on avoiding "fake clicks"?? I mean, by your logic, Facebook is sending fake clicks to everyone - including the pages and magazines you reference.

So what good would targeting people who like those pages be? You've already established that they also got a bunch of fake clicks. You would be, in essence, targeting fake profiles that liked those pages (if we were to follow your logic).

The ONLY point you've made is that if your targeting is poor, you are going to wind up with poor engagement - well, no kidding. Of course you are!

Come on folks, think things through logically before arguing a point.

Dude...why so argumentative? You don't know me from a can of paint nor do you know what I have done. I'm sharing what has worked for me based on my own personal experience. You can't PROVE anything either way. You insulted the OP and now you are trying to do the same to me. You make asshat assumptions and haven't nor can you provide a string of data.... just pompous attacks. You look pathetic and immature.

I have looked at FB traffic using multiple analytics and can confirm much of it matches bot footprints...some of them are the same bots observed on Adwords and Adsense. Better targeting WILL yield better results but not 100% avoidance of bots and clickfarms.....do you deny they exist on FB??????

Sharing personal experience is what the forum is all about so let others share...if you don't like it....then don't read it...go and eat a happy meal.

Don't tell people that what they have experienced is wrong (unless you were there with them)....don't tell people that questions are dumb (it's rude)....in general don't be a dick.

You addressed me directly by quoting me. Asking if Facebook is scamming people is DUMB. Sorry, it just is.

If saying so makes me a dick then so be it.

I'm not doubting your "analytics". I'm saying your "analytics" are telling you that poor targeting = poor engagement - everyone already knows that. It has nothing to do with facebook sending fake clicks.

Your recommendation, after saying my position is based on ignorance, was to target people who like magazines and other pages similar to yours. That's all well and good but if Facebook is sending fake clicks to everyone as you say, how does that help you? It doesn't even make sense.

Do you REALLY think companies would spend millions of dollars on social media campaigns if THEIR analytics indicated a scam?

    Come on...

Why is it always the Internet marketer that sniffs out the "scam"?

Fake traffic is a part of doing business...it happens and has been happening for years with both Adwords and Adsense where even more money is spent than FB buddy. To deny that is silly.

Maybe everybody doesn't know what you might know...that's why the OP was asking for input. That's why his question isn't dumb. Got it???

If saying so makes me a dick then so be it.

I'm not doubting your "analytics". I'm saying your "analytics" are telling you that poor targeting = poor engagement - everyone already knows that. It has nothing to do with facebook sending fake clicks.

Do you REALLY think companies would spend millions of dollars on social media campaigns if THEIR analytics indicated a scam?

      Come on...

Why is it always the Internet marketer that sniffs out the "scam"?

        AND...

So that it is crystal clear....neither Google or FB are perpetrators of this fake traffic. These are people that are trying to game their platforms for profit...I haven't used the word scam but those gaming the platforms are indeed scammers.

No, I dont "got it". Asking if a multi-billion dollar company is scamming people is dumb. Especially when there are many other more plausible reasons for poor results.

You still haven't addressed my point about how "targeting" does anything at all to avoid fake clicks.

I'm referring to the title of the thread son...

Are you gonna just keep glossing over explaining how your "solution" avoids so-called fake clicks??

The title of the thread is a question, it was never a statement, boy.

Unlike you who really gave no helpful info, just criticism....I addressed the OPs question fully in my response.

      Now, run along.

And my issue from the beginning was that hearing novice Internet marketers immediately scream "scam" when they don't understand something gets old - that's why I had a problem with it. Instead of thinking things through logically, they immediately throw out the word "scam".

OP even stated he shouldn't have jumped to that conclusion later in the thread.

So again, how does that targeting trick avoid fake clicks again?

This forum has been and always will be a place for newcomers to ask questions...NONE of them are dumb. That was MY point.

People are always free to share their own experiences. That is my second point.

Forgive us that we aren't looking to please your personal desires on a daily basis.

I don't really understand the converting side myself. I just see that the more money spent the better results. Well that's from watching other people online.

He calls me a novice. I couldnt care less. I am always learning, like everybody in IM but i just wonder if he ever sold an online business. Or if he ever had meetings with a a billion $ corporation interested in investing in his online business?
    I don't think so. I did.

Returning to the thread this things happen in my opinion. Rarely but they do happen.
