How can i promote my site through the social networking sites

I have 2 sites which i was thinking of promoting in the social media sites . How can i promote them. Looks like i am doing things blindly. Can some one advice what should be done exactly to see results in a short time. When i say results,i mean like improving visits,improving PR,increasing back-links etc.

    You need to have a substantial amount of likes / fans on a Facebook page to make this work to be honest.
    We use our Facebook page with 175,000 fans to drive traffic to the website which will bring about 2 - 4000 views every time we post a website link to the Facebook page.

    It takes time to build a FB page so be patient and then once you have enough fans you can then drive them to your website. You have to be careful with posting too many links to Facebook as it can damage your reach. The best way is to mix up the posts so it doesn't look too blatant. Facebook can see it as spam of it's too frequent and your reach will drop.

    I'm already using facebook to promote my site and drive some traffic to my site http://www.exploremyindia.in . Though I just have about 2000 friends on my FB list but posting through groups and pages does the trick to fetch some traffic.

    Numatik is right, you need a good number of fans to start with. If you are starting something from scratch, it would be better if you post atleast 10 or 20 posts on your FB page, then go for ads to get people to like your page after that.

    Also, you can try curating your content on various social media accounts. IFTTT is a good tool to have all your content posted in all your social media accounts. Plus, it is free. Goodluck!

    There are many social media sites but the best one to promote your page is Facebook. To promote your page you will need money, so if you have the money you can do that. I think you have to choose do you want facebook to target any specific market and with that you will drag more people to your site. Wish you all the best.

    It will take time. You will need to build a following and put out great content for people to know you and trust you. I wish there was a fast solution, but there really isn't in terms of doing it free.

    Paid ads can really speed things up, but it will cost you.

    Build a fan page on Facebook. Use the method of following leaders in your niche and liking or reposting their tweets, pins etc... They may follow you back. Post your content on Youtube and a blog, and then post those links on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest... etc. This will create a network of links and as leaders start sharing your information you will become an authority in your field.
