Facebook just pulled a new huge douche move
After years of never spending a dime on facebook, we made a fool strategic move to 'boost' one of our recent posts, and have subsequently done the same for about 5 more.
Since doing this, however, I've noticed a HUGE drop off of engagement on all our other content.
Just to put in perspective - we're getting only 20 shares on a post where we normally average 1000+.
Now, I know I probably am sounding paranoid here, it's just such a massive and noticeable change, and at the risk of sounding cynical I can't help but wonder if we've somehow tripped some switch by paying for content that has now led to facebook algorithm reducing reach on our posts in order to force us into paying more.
Facebook wouldn't be the first ones to do this, nor the last. Yelp is pretty succesfull
at extorting its clients.
I'd love to hear if anyone else has experienced anything similar to this?
Thank you all
