He makes a GOOD video! Great voice - pace - easy to understand (and he's eye candy, too, which doesn't hurt).

What has always interested me about Facebook is that people DON'T question the likes and some of the stuff that goes on. His comments on "they like everything" is spot on and makes a lot of sense.

If FB users don't see this stuff happening - it's because they don't want to look too closely.

Facebook isn't defrauding anyone. I hate these dumb tinfoil hat conspiracy posts.

My experience across DOZENS of fan pages is completely the opposite of virtually everything he says. I've even been called a liar because of my claims of "reach" of over 50% and sky-high engagement statistics - complete opposite statistics from what he claims.

It's nice to watch videos like this one.

It's nice to hear/see not only the good side but also some not so good ones.

In the end we would still be the one to realize whether we are seeing the truth or not based on our own experiences.

It's an argument I've seen time and time again, unfortunately it just doesn't hold up.

The argument is "Hey, my page has a million likes but my posts are now shown only to 1,000 people, this is unfair!"

No, it's not. The quality of a page can change over time. "Likes" are therefore an unreliable way for Facebook to know whether you enjoy a page's content or not. You may have liked a page in 2012 but, in 2014, its owner changed, for example, and it has been posting garbage since then. A much more reliable factor to determine the quality of a page's content is to monitor post engagement (which is what Facebook does now).

If people like recent posts from a page, Facebook is going to include more posts from that page into their timelines. If people ignore the posts, they will see new posts from that page once a week or once a month.

That's, in my book, absolutely fair. Create engaging content and your posts will keep on being shown to people. Post garbage and your posts won't be seen.

Interesting video. When I started my fanpage on Facebook, I was so obsessed with getting likes until I realized that Likes aren't all that important. Obviously you'll want to still get likes but the main focus should be on engagement people have with your page as well as with each other on your page. And of course if you have a website, then making as much money as well too. The "Likes" are kinda like a social proof where people may think you're page has something worth their time to look at (which on Facebook is minimal) but it doesn't mean they'll stay for long or ever come back. That's where engagement and content that appeals to your niche overrides everything else.

Facebook has their algorithm in place because if they didn't it would go the way of MySpace. When MySpace was littering their platform full of ads people got sick of it and jumped ship over to Facebook and Facebook grew fast.

In this day and age engaging content is king and nobody wants to see their timeline filled with ads. It sucks that reach is down, but I understand why Facebook has their algorithm in place. They learned from MySpace on what "not to do".

From my experience, my fanpage constantly receives likes from people of which I assume they are not real. Both in organic and paid likes.

When this video came out there was one famous marketer who confirmed all of this.
What he did, he ran a test on new fanpage with ad, and despite majority of profiles were fake, the campaign still ended up profitable for him. So basically we shouldn`t care - real or fake, as long it is profitable.
