Facebook ads only producing non-quality fake likes

So I´ve run some small campaigns for like clicks on my page/company, and it started out all right..though I thought it was too much to pay 50cent or 1$ for one like..(reaching something like 1000-5000 people per ad) and I got some quality people liking my page. But the last 6 or 7 likes has only been like arabs with absolutely no connection or anything whatsoever with my business. Im in Norway btw. How is Facebook targeting people in friggin OMAN when I´ve specified I want to target people in my own Capitol, Oslo.

Any ideas? I read that it has happened that Facebook ads could run into that problem, but is it common? Have I been unlucky? I´m actually scared of running more ads because in my niche I dont get thousands of likes, and I dont need it..but I certainly dont need 20% arabs..edit; arabs in OMAN.

Lol, that is funny, how did they manage to get you like from Oman. This clearly indicates that either their campaign of giving likes through the Ads is having some major issue or they dont get the proper audience.

Frankly I would never go for Ads, instead you can try some local companies in your area or city who has fan pages, groups or Facebook accounts. You can manually by yourself target such people easily, by just making friends or starting a conversation. Once you have a certain number of groups, fan pages and people interacting, introduce your business to them. Well it would take some time, but atleast you will get likes and would be sure to save money.

      Thanks

So, what I´m doing is that i provide health services to companies. Do you suggest (if i understood you correctly) that I like/follow other companies facebookpages, and if there is activity on that page I should join the conversation/like/share etc? I´m not sure about this next question, but would it (in the US) be considered rude to introduce your business with a message to the company´s Facebook account? Could there be any marketing laws against that? (I would have to check that out with my own country´s laws) Not sure if that would be considered rude here in norway. But it´s pretty much the same climate here for business interaction etc as in the US..exept that we´re a little more reserved.

Edit; I´m sorry. You´re in China(?!), but maybe you have an idea anyway. And I would suspect that in Chinese business there is more conservatism and politeness than in european business.

Yes certainly not just in US, but generally advertising anything about our business on some other company fan page would be improper. You can keep interacting or talking about products to get more eyeballs to your profile / fan page. If you posts are interesting, they will be eager to visit you on your profile page. I dont think its illegal about advertising your stuff, anywhere on FB.

Yes, I am from China and here we have more competition in businesses than most of the western countries.

When you make a like campaign some people will like your page and their friends will see that and also like your page. Usually you will get more likes than what Facebook is reporting in your ads. Now this is a possibility, I does not mean it is your case.

You can check Veritasium's video on fraud related to likes:
What you can do to get likes:

-post some interesting stuff. not sure what that is in your niche
-boost the post for $5 to an audience that might be interested in it
-if the post is interesting and targeted you will get a decent engagement including likes
-you can invite people that like your posts to also like your page
-the more engagement your posts have, the higher your organic reach for future posts will be

      Wow, thanks man.

What he describes makes 100% sense and must be exactly what happened to me. Some of my new "followers" were "typical" indian/thirdworld profiles but some said there were located in norway, when absolutely nothing in their profile seemed to make sense with that. No norwegian text, not even english, no personal posts or updates, no pictures, and a shitload of pagelikes.

So there I go. No like-buying, but do as youre saying- boost my updates and posts to relevant audience.

That kind of stuff has happened to me as well. I'm not sure how or why, but it does happen and I hope someday they can get that fixed on Facebook.

For the most part Facebook Ads are good for targeting, but I wonder myself why non targeted people from other countries will respond to an ad or how they even seen the ad.

will you able to find similliar name for your town?
you could try to trial and error by using another place like or bigger area such a state and see if the error occurs or not, also you can try to test the specification on targeting from who live in here to another one
any specific connection perhaps such as a people who are following bla bla bla?

i use facebook ads for my online store like since 8 years ago, best practice is to crate more ads with different targeting etc than spending all your budget in 1 ads

I was just going to start a tread when I saw your post. I had the same problem with Facebook ads. Facebook is a scam apparently.

You have mentioned that you specified your Geological location, so it seems bit wired to me. Have you contact with support center?

I believe clickfarmers use fake geological location. Many of my fake followers were supposedly located in Oslo, Norway, meanwhile their account was typical third world click farm-profile. Nothing on their profiles suggested they had anything at all to do with Norway or living in Norway. And as far as I know there are no such thing as clickfarms in Scandinavia.

Thats the only explanation I can think of..
