Apps which increase your productivity and stop you wasting time on Facebook
There are many options available that have been created to limit the time spent on Facebook which is incredibly successful and will save you from being lost into the vortex of Facebook!
If you find that a quick newsfeed break can often turn into a mammoth Facebook session (either with or without the knowledge of the recipient!) consider investigating some of these options, which are not all Facebook-focused but will certainly help with more effective time management.
Carrot
The Carrot app is cleverly described as a to-do list with a personality. If you don't get done what you need to within your specified timeframe, Carrot gets angry! While this doesn't help directly with your Facebook procrastination problem, you are more prone to want to check things off of your to-do list to keep Carrot happy which will keep your focussed on your tasks in hand.
Rescue Time
Rescue Time runs in the background of your devices and presents you with an accurate report of where you spend your time. It mentions Facebook specifically and works to reduce the amount of time spent as 'unproductive' time by making you aware of it. Rescue Time gives you the opportunity to be more deliberate about how you spend your day and once you see just how much time you do spend on Facebook, you'll work hard to reduce it.
News Feed Eradicator
News Feed Eradicator does what it says on the tin. It removes your news feed from Facebook so that when you are logged in you will remain focussed on the task in hand. The app is primarily focused on getting the most out of your time on social media, and aims to reduce the amount of time you spend getting caught up in non-essential scrolling.
Kill News Feed
This one is only for those of you who are committed! Installing it gives you a pretty confronting message each time you log into Facebook, allowing you to post messages relevant to your business without getting distracted by other people's posts.
SelfControl App
Last but by no means least is the SelfControl App. The app allows you to select certain sites and block them within specified time periods. If you are working between particular times of the day but find yourself prone to distraction in your home office or study, this app will leave you with little option but continue on with your tasks.
For those of you who are prone to procrastination and can't resist a sneaky peek on social media, which often turns into a giant stare, some of these apps might be just what you're looking for to bring some order back into your day and become productive once again!
