Facebook Competitions - Boosted Posts

Hey Guys,

I have been seeing some success running competitions for my outdoor adventure games business on FB - basically, we run a competition asking the user to leave a simple comment to be in with a chance of winning a free game - those that don't win are then sent a discount voucher which has worked really well.

A recent one we did cost us £5, we had 32 entries, sent out the voucher codes and made £50 from that one post - this is great if we could easily repeat it a few times a week.

The issue I have is that for the example above, I paid for the post to be boosted and each engagement cost me around £0.15 - but the next one we tried, which was very similar in style but to the exact same demographic has so far spent £5 for 0 engagements - I'd love to know if someone can work out where we went wrong second time around?

The only difference I can think of is that for the first we advertised using the "Boost Post" button on our FB page, the second time we created an advert to promote the post via the advert manager interface - not sure if this is relevant?

Any advice welcome...

Best regards

Trev

    Hi,

I cant really help you out with the advertising side but I can help you with getting entries to your competitions.

For FB comps you can use ninjawin.com , they allow you to submit your competition for free, you will get around 100 entries doing this.

You can also use Compers Haven, again its free to submit, you are likely to get 50-100 entries dependant on prize.

If you are using twitter, and for competitions I would do! then the site Twitaculous allows you to submit a competition for free, you could get around 400 RT's and followers from these people!

Also when composing your tweet for your competition use the hash tags #FreebieFriday and #WinItWednesday as these are the 2 tags most searched in the UK for competitions.

This was my first ever post on these forums, hope it helps you out a bit!
