Is Facebook still a good traffic source?

I have been a Facebook marketer for over 5 years now, and I have seen Facebook evolve from selling penny clicks to selling $10 clicks like GOOGLE. The main reason I decided to do Facebook was because I was running away from the big G (Google). Now, it looks like Facebook PPC is just as bad as Google's PPC, if not worse... lol

Anyway... I just happened to find a stealthy way to get valuable penny clicks from Facebook all over again. Here is how I figured it out... Well, we know that Facebook doesn't like it when you send traffic outside of Facebook and as a result, they punish you and make your clicks expensive. Then when you build a Facebook page and try send traffic to it, they make you per less per click, but it is still high at about 50-60% less the dollars you pay for driving traffic out of Facebook.

I then started experimenting with Facebook likes and it was a gold mine. I had to be very strategic to get penny clicks from Facebook likes which finally started generating free organic traffic on Facebook for me. Yes, there are many people in the groups under the niche you are in, but how many are interested in what you have to offer. People may give a like on your post but at the end of the day, there are very very little clicks, what more subscriptions.
What's worst, you start out new, with no money to invest on ads. Only using the 'FREE' way which is to join relevant groups and advertise there. In addition, there is a limit to how much you can post in a time frame. Otherwise they ban the account, considering it as spamming.

This is an excellent point. If you don't have money to advertise, you are stuck with the FREE way, which can get tedious and tricky (as you don't want to come off as a spammer).

In a nutshell, here are some free ways I built up my fanpage with likes, engagement (meaning comments and shares), and sales on my site:

      1. Building a rapport with the admins and members of the groups.

      2. Formed joint ventures with successful, talented people in my niche. I had to get to know them first of course and it has to be genuine. Meaning, you should really like what the person does.

      3. Host CONTESTS. These are a must for building up your fanpage and gaining loyalty. But the keys are to ask for permission from admins in relevant groups to share it there first.

      4. You don't necessarily need to shelve out money to do contests - I have had people co-host with me and they gave away awesome things free. All I had to do was sit back, enjoy the entries, watch the likes roll in, and announce the winner.

In sum, in life (and business) there is a Give and Take Balance. If you are always just asking people to help you only (not saying you do - I'm speaking generally btw), that's not going to work. There needs to be balance where you take abundantly, but also give abundantly. You need to exchange things. And get creative it does not always have to be money based. I'm sure there is a service or knowledge, or just, believe it or not - great conversation that delight people. Or genuine compliments or suggestions on something they are having trouble with. There are many of ways and will depend on your niche but the theme is the same. Help people first (not necessarily monetarily) and you'll get it back, probably twice fold without trying.

I go into more detail about these things in my book, but these might be easy to overlook when you get involved in the process

Facebook has 1+ billion users so I'd say yes it's still a good traffic source! You just have to harness your traffic by segmenting and narrowing down your niche

Facebook is great! You can truly target your specific niche right down to the bone!

For me like you mentioned 1) Aim for more likes through your ads 2) Make your ads more engaging and CLICKABLE, 3) Target your audience EXACTLY - by that I mean the more you can narrow your ads down the better.

It's a good source of traffic (with the proper targeting) but it's becoming more.... and more expensive every day (if you want to target people who have money to spend)...

How can you generate traffic by getting page likes? The organic reach is so low, I don't see how you can do this without awesome posts.

Also if you don't want people to leave Facebook to get to your offer you can use apps to integrate your salespage into your tabs. It also works with squeeze pages.

I agree that FB clicks are rising and I left Google PPC for that reason as well, but I get more targeted clicks with FB and makes my conversions a little more effective. This is dependant upon my niche though.

I believe the problem is for those who do not have any money and are trying to get super cheap clicks from FB. In that case, Houston we have a problem
