Understand the demographics of the users on Pinterest. Also understand that this is a social media site and people are not on Pinterest to buy so you are going to need a lot, lot more traffic from this site to get the same results say if you are using PPC

I've heard that Pinterest is good for making money, using info-graphics.

As someone else said, look at the demographics . . . age-range and gender (I think their members are more female than male, but check for yourself).

Then think of products which would be of interest and for which infographics could make sense.

The majority of Pinterest users are women, and you can make money with it. Not to be vague, but the content is endless, and I have found you do not have to worry so much about the followers, but the actual traffic your boards are getting.

The way I see things with pinterest is that you need a good picture to promote and publish there and in essence you’ll just get traffic, somewhat targeted traffic but traffic nevertheless. To make a profit you need a really good landing page and with a call to action of course.
I personally use pinterest looking for camping gear on infographics but I really end up with a website that offers the products listed in the infographic.
