Help starting local business FB page

Hi all,

Today I am creating accounts for a friend of mine who is starting up a local business. He is going to be doing street food by using BBQ's. His main audience for the time being will be at festivals and street events.

I am going to create a FB page for his business. We have a logo designed, we are going to get a banner made for the cover photo (any ideas for this? I was thinking this should be used for advertising more so than brand placement - so advertise events or menus, rather than just logos and designs). What I was wondering is, is there anything I should know on what to do when creating a business page in terms of getting ourselves out there. Im thinking I will get in contact with the festival FB page and get them to share it on their page stating that we are doing a raffle for a free meal once a day for the duration of the festival if you like and share our page. As well as this I might do paid advertisements to try get a few more likes on the page. I suppose I can also post on other things related to the business to get some more interest.

I think I will also create IG and Snapchat accounts, so that we can post photos of the food and do videos of the event. We plan on having an area for people to jam at our marquee, so we can post videos of that beside the food/bbq to gain some interest.

Am I going about this the right way? Is there anything im missing? Please let me know, Im happy to listen to all advise given.

Your plan looks great so far.

The event coverup youre planning for the festival is very good, make sure you advertise that coverup some days before so people will be noticed.

Doing some paid ads will help build a following and interest faster. You have a good idea with doing some cross promotion to get some interest. With the new Facebook algorithm more paid advertising will be needed to gain interest and engagement.

One suggestion is to put some coupon codes that people could use, but make them for a short period of time so that they act fast. Try to make them exclusive only to Facebook fans.

If you can get a following on Snapchat that would be a great way to get people interested. building a following on Snapchat is harder than other platforms. Advertise the snapcode and handle everywhere possible so people know to follow the business on Snapchat.

Good luck I hope it all works great for you!

A Facebook page is a good idea especially for that type of business where you can easily share related pictures and keep in contact with your customers.

Yes your idea to contact festival pages and promote your page there is a good one. If you can offer them a good deal, they will promote your brand.

The coupon idea is also good. I don't know exactly how you can implement it, something like 3+1 free if you show this coupon.

The only downside I see to having a public social media page is you have to make sure your customers are satisfied, and it's not always easy. There will always be someone complaining about something more genuine or trivial. But this is the nature of social media.
