I Create Content that goes viral, now what?

A few months ago I picked up some work as a writer after answering some ads I found on UpWork. I created "listicles", regular articles, funny content, serious content and everything you can think of. It was really fun to watch some of these articles get shared on social media thousands of times. I asked one of my clients if I could get more money for the articles and he doubled my rate instantly. That got me thinking that I must be making these guys a lot of money by creating articles that get shared at a higher rate than other writers.
Not that I'm not grateful to my writing clients but I would kind of like to cut out the middleman and learn how to make money off my content myself.

I'm pretty sure that my clients are only earning revenue from google adsense, and are frequently "boosting" posts on Facebook in order to create traffic. That's basically all I know of the business model I am trying to recreate.

I've created a website but haven't launched yet. I've never marketed my content myself before so I am wondering if anyone can recommend next steps for me to learn more? Are there companies that would partner with me in return for a share of revenues? Are there mentors or people that do that? Any good books or audiobooks that would help point me in the right direction?
