Marketing Strategy. Is it Legally Ok ?
For testing purposes, I made a mock Facebook page. I made-up a guy, gave him a first & last name and uploaded a copyright-free stock photo of a guy and made-up some info about him (although I "do not" show his info on the page).
Right away, people started friend requesting me. It's getting an average of a dozen friend requests a day. Yesterday was 17 requests. A lot of them (friends) are also liking my posts.
This took-off from day one and I have no clue why? The "only" posts I have on my timeline are posts thanking every individual who sent their request. That's it.
The page is only a personal account, it's not a page offering any product or anything.
I started it 4 or 5 days ago, I have 122 friends.
This was only for testing purposes to see if anyone would respond, and they're liking something but i don't know...so I asked them...
I asked them to tell me - by message, on my timeline or on Twitter - what they want, and what they would like this page to give them, and I told them I'd like to give that to them.
So my question is, "Are we allowed, as Marketers, to market and make money under an alias on Facebook, even though I'm receiving all these friend requests myself?" Can anyone help me on this please?
Thank you,
Rob
P.S. I realize I'm unable to do personalized videos to them because I don't look like the alias
Cheers, Laurence.
