All-In-One Threads:

All-In-One threads is something I'm starting here where we as a group try to list damn near everything known about the subject of the thread. When you see an All-In-One thread feel free to speak up. It can be a 'secret', just a technique you happen to use or even something you haven't used, just heard about - whatever. Feel free to join in.

Please do not use the term All-In-One anywhere on this board. It will be saved for these threads specifically so at some point all one will have to do is search for the term "All-In-One" and all these threads will be easily found. At some point these will become some of the most sought after threads on the forum so it might be a good idea to participate if you have something to say people are going to really like.

If you have a great idea for an All-In-One thread please send me a PM and let me know about it.

Grab all of your RSS feeds from various social networks (Digg, Delicious, FriendFeed etc) and make sure to submit them to the top RSS aggregators. Don't forget mashing - google about lifestreaming, you will find many social lifestreaming sites that let you include feeds from other sites to create a "life stream" (ie, FriendFeed). These sites then produce even more RSS feeds for you to promote with.

Also - add VARIETY to your bookmarking and social activity. Do NOT just bookmark all of your own content.

    Take care!

Ah a perfect one for moi! Here are my tips:

1.) Keyword = Social. Please remember that this is not a one way, "I'm gonna shove information and sales copy down your throat like a duck about to become foie gras" place. Social networks are a place for two-way communication and your success will soar if you keep this in mind and build a reputation for yourself as a part of the community, and not a leech.

2.) Play both sides of the field. While you're busy providing good information, take a small amount of time to also see what other experts are sharing information and thank them for their insight.

This is called networking, and you can build a good rapport in the niche for possible future JVs. I've seen some dummies who act as if they're being knocked off the mountain, so they attack a competitor rather than shimmy up beside him and stand at the top together. Remember - his list could be HUGE and he might be open to letting you have a swap if you play your cards right.

3.) Be mindful of the rules of the network and stop trying to game the system. Whether it's trying to get a topic to squeak by the filters or using tons of bots to do the work for you, it's my personal belief that your results will be better if you're above the board and genuine in what you do on web 2.0 sites.

4.) Give value before you market to the people. Freebies go a long way with consumers. Put together a one week (7 page) autoresponder series or a 5 page viral report. If the site is niche specific, contact the owner and see if they'd like to share the freebie with the members. Think of it like this - would I rather put a link in my sig file to a free report and hope everyone sees it, or would I rather Allen Says endorse it with a top-of-the-screen notification? It doesn't hurt to ask the forum owner or web 2.0 site owner.

5.) On sites that allow marketing, don't create your typical sales page. For instance, Squidoo allows open marketing. But instead of a sales letter, write good articles and use the modules to mix in the buying opportunities (ie: a StickyNote module with a hyperlink to an opt in freebie where you convert them to a buyer).

6.) On the sites that have some form of higher recognition, go for it for added credibility. On the WF, newcomers often look at post count or how long a member has been here or how many times they've been thanked to determine whose opinion matters. On Squidoo, Giant Squids get preferential treatment and are also looked up to as experts, whether or not they are. Anything to give you an edge is worth pursuing (ie: My Twitter avatar is animated and you wouldn't believe how many people followed me because of that and later email me to tell me they did that and then went to my site, knowing nothing about IM at all, but building interest through my link).

    Look for advertisement opportunities...

For example with StumbleUpon, with $25 bucks you'll get 500 visitors to your website or your blog. If people like it, your website could go viral and receive thousands of visits even after your campaign has ended.

It can also be an excellent way to test ideas that you want to implement on your website.

    Hope it helps,

to be effectice you MUST join one or more social media teams and share the burden of bookmarking each others' content. This will create buzz and make your contents more prominent not only on the social media sites but the search engines will also take notice.

Convert you contents in video, audio, software, pdf and syndicate to 100's of web 2.0 properties, submit the feeds to RSS aggregators.

I'll echo Tiffany here. The entire point of social networks is to network with like minded individuals. Provide value to the network and it will reward you. Interact with others. Don't only try to be self promotional. Earn the right to promote your site, offers, products, what ever.

Once you gain the trust of others in your niche, then you won't be able to stop the success you will have.

um, cough, webDOMinator all in one social networking bot... cough

Seriously though... to actually add something to this thread, I tend to go after niche social networking sites to find good clients. The idea is that there is less already existing friending by bots going on there which gives you an advantage and can get you to the top with a smaller effort.

Here are a couple of ideas, so get your thinking hats on:

    1. Twitter Strategy

Twitter is the second hottest social networking site out there at the moment, after Facebook. It is the fastest growing social site on the Internet. The thing about Twitter that you must remember (like with the other networks) is that it is a place to socialize. People go on there to interact with others, not buy products.
The key to making Twitter work is to form relationships with other marketers in your niche. Make friends with them. You never know, some of those relationships can result in lucrative joint venture deals for you.

    2. Facebook Strategy

Facebook is a another great way to build relationships with other business people in your niche market. But you can also use it as a way to send out bulletins to people who are interested in buying products in your target market. You can also link to your blog, or post videos out there, all of which help to build a fan base that will eventually buy your products.

    3. Blogging Strategy

Blogging still remains probably the best money making Web 2.0 strategy. You can monetize a blog is so many different ways, including AdSense, banner advertising, affiliate programs, pay per post blog posts and so on. If you have a subscriber list, it is also a great tool for building rapport with your subscribers and communicating with them.

These social marketing strategies are proven to work. So put them to action soon to build your business!

I cant believe that I missed these threads, what a great idea. Personally what works for me, along with the social bookmarking mass submission techniques listed above, is to make sure when submitting that you use your dominant keyword as the opening words of your title when submitting to social bookmarking. Ads more visibility, and as some bookmarking sites get listed extremely fast (Digg for example), this WILL add visibility to your site.

The one thing you have to do in order to be successful with social media is to interact! It's a two way street. No one likes being yelled at. Don't just go on twitter and facebook when you're selling something. Talk about your day, comment on other people's posts. This way you help build your credibility.

Right on point! Nothing can replace interaction. It's the cornerstone of social marketing. True, a few things can be automated here & there, but if you want best results you must take the time to personalize.

When I first started writing articles on a site, I was encouraged to promote to Twitter, FB, etc. When I did, my page views did increase. A year later, I am now on both in a more personally active way and I cannot believe how many more followers I have picked up. Now I have friends of my relatives visiting my sites and making comments. Spending the time to get to know people, connect with family and friends, and making new online friends in relevent niche forums really can make a difference.

Thank you to all who are providing such great information and advice for us newbies. It is much appreciated.

Some tips for those who use social networking websites(like facebook) for marketing.

Tip 1: When marketing on social networking websites,
make sure you add firends that are interested in your niche. You
can easily find people interested in your niche by checking out groups.
Example: If your niche is fitness, search for fitness groups, and send
friend requests to the people in that group.

Tip 2: The more friends you have the merrier. If the limit of friends
of a social network is 5000, then go for 5000.

Tip 3: Create your own groups. Again the more people you
have in your groups the merrier. To get more people in your group,
make sure that you give it a good title. IMO, comical titles
    work really well.

Example: If your niche is money, don't name the group 'how to make
money', name the group something like:

'I need money NOT a job'
'Money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure helps'

    You get the idea...

    Cheers,
    Johnny

Regarding the Twitter - you do not need to have a bunch of followers in order to get results. The best strategy I have ever learned is to post topics that are interesting to your target audience with a schedule - around 10-15 posts per day, and usually I provide information about others people work - great blog posts or interesting subjects. I do not provide anything to my own blog for first 200 posts or so.

This way you will get attention from the people who are interested in your subject, not followers who do not read what you post there.

With Twitter, it is the same like in list building. You will not send to your list promotion every day, so there is no big difference.

my top sources of getting traffic to my blog is twitter and blog comments. Forums also work well. I try to share useful posts to my Twitter account so my followers like me and wait for my news. Business fields and e-marketing strategies are the hottest niches that people never stop searching for, so it would be nice to share them.

Try to make your comment on other blogs constructive and make a good relation between you as a reader and the writer. Speak to him as a human not just a machine that generates backinks to you. It worked for me

These Are all Great Tips: Here are a Few i think will add to your social marketing efforts.
This is geared towards social bookmarking.

But first here's a warning.... Some of these Sites have very high page ranks and are very powerful links to have pointing to your site and there's a lot of software out there that makes it really easy to post to 30+ site at once....

So if you have a new site you want to make sure you are not building to many back links in a single day... (to the search engines it will not look like your site is growing naturally)
So you only want to build 10-15 daily. then after a year you can build more daily

*I use onlywire for my bookmarking and when i put up a new site I bookmark it to 15 sites and I don't build anymore links untill the next day... that alone will typically get me 80-100 unique visitors in 24 hrs.

-Make sure you change your anchor text every 5-6 post.

For more aggressive Social Bookmarking make what's called a coffee filter page.
Example: You make a sqidoo or hubpage ect... that content on the page will be relevant to you niche with 2-3 links within the content pointing to different pages on you site. This coffee filter page can then be more heavily bookmarked, pinged and added to rss feeds ect. if you take those those coffee filters and bookmark them that will send a GANG of traffic to your site...

      -Happy Social BookMarking

The purpose of this All-In-One thread is not to askquestions, but to add new Social Marketing tips and resources.

For new questions it would be best to create a new thread.

Get on Twitter, use the search function to find people in your niche, and then engage them. Make them laugh, answer their questions, solve their problems, etc.

Many of them will find the link to your website that you put in your profile.

Find at least 2 relevant and influential people in your niche on social media (Facebook is best for my niche) and contact them with an opportunity to serve them (for free) or give away something they might be interested in, like a copy of an ebook you wrote, something physical, or service they might need.

Tie it into explaining (briefly) what you do and a link to your fanpage or website.

This is the 'give to receive' concept we hear all the time. But don't go in aggressively trying to get something in return, just do it for the joy of doing it and see what happens.

    Be creative and have fun

Social media is a powerful tool to expose the product's brand. Engagement
is the key to target audiences. Defining your audience is the first step and applying marketing strategies is the name of the game.

    Here are my few tips:

    A. Have a clear picture of your marketing goals. Be aware of the current content and trend. Actively communicate without compromising professionalism.

    B. Use effective content writing skills and insert backlinks whenever possible.

    C. Avoid a spammy content and cliche.

    D. It doesn't hurt when proofreading is done to avoid errors.
