can't invite all members on FB groups. what is the point?

Its pretty much offical, FB doesn't want us to be able to invite all members of the group. I'm an admin of a group with 3000+ members and I can only invite the ones I'm friends with.

Its frustrating because I'm trying to set up a another FB group. What is the point if I can't invite everyone? would it be better if I set up a forum instead like this one?

    Please try this method.

    Use the event tab in the left side of the facebook page.
    Create a public event ->
    Under invite friends -> all friends
    then you can invite all your friends for the event.
