Legal way to promote YouTube videos?

I would not recommend Fiverr for getting views or likes. They never work. You can upload your videos to your Facebook page. Create one if you don't have one. It's super easy. Then join as many Facegroup groups in your particular subject, get friends and offer them the chance to 'Like ' your page.

This is one fun way to get exposure to your videos.

- comment on videos in your genre (casually mention that you also have your own music videos in some cases)... other commenters will see your post & some will click to your profile. Be genuine & not spammy. Think about it for those that comment on videos in your niche... do you ever click on the profile link of interesting commenters? I do but in a non-music niche & yes I do subscribe to those commenters who also are uploading videos. You will get people who subscribe back.

- title your video - "whatever your song is called" including having that as the name of your file before you upload it on YouTube

- make sure your tags used are accurate describing the type of music

- use the keywords you want to target in your description but make sure it is all "in flow" & not a BS script as you talk about your song.

- use a good thumbnail of your video

- brand yourself via your YouTube ID, Channel banner that stands out & add a watermark to your videos

- create playlists in your genre & include your music in some of them (example - independent artist collection of "whatever" music, top music genre videos from 2015,). When you add someone else's video you can make a comment on their video & say you added it to a playlist of "whatever music by independent artists' . Share your playlists (& videos) & playlists on other social media platforms.

- buying views or likes may not be the best idea but I have seen advice from successful YouTubers in Internet Marketing who do purchase social signals (shares on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, etc... .) Will it help? I don't know but it doesn't appear to be a risk.

- I'm sure there are Facebook groups that let people promote their music - you'll be able to connect with other independent producers as well as fans. Have a Facebook Page & use that profile to comment on other fan pages. Following similar others on Twitter or creating Twitter lists may be helpful.

- it sounds like you are just doing your own music but it may be a good idea to do some cover music of your favorite artists as that will indeed cast a "much" wider net of people to come to your channel. As you know some of the most popular music videos on YouTube are covers.

Fiverr is a great place for design projects but stay away from it if your needs are related to general marketing. Are you on any social media networks? Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest? Do you have a blog? If you want to be serious about marketing, my advice would be building your social presence first, and then using social media to broadcast your music.

I also like the idea of creating a Facebook group or join some music groups just mentioned by Wentzco.

I'm a generation Y kid so I'm definitely on my game with Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, etc..). I was only trying to find ways to gain exposure from others outside of my friends' network that's why I got tempted into these marketing campaigns.

Bad news - I bit the bullet and went ahead to try them out before getting replies on the forums. I got a massive spike of Views, but as expected, no engagement whatsoever with my video.

I know most of these sellers are selling bot Views on Youtube, but do you think the seller I mentioned sold me gunuine traffic? Even if it's clickbait or something?

Sorry I went ahead with it before asking for opinions here. I just though it would be good to have some "social proof" at the initial stage. I think people usually have a different perception about a video that has "400 views" vs "1500+ views", and may give the video more of a "chance".

Give a title, add a playlist to it,maximize your tags, Share it on different social media.

1.Add an SEO-optimized title: Your YouTube video title is essential in helping your video be found, so use appropriate keywords.

2.Add an SEO description: Include a description that isn’t keyword stuffed, but does include your main keywords.

3.Add your website link to the description: If you have a website or blog, be sure to provide a link back to that. You can also include links to all of your social media channels. When posting links, be sure to include the “http” or the “https,” as that’s the only way YouTube can automatically hyperlink it.

4.Maximize your tags: so many people do not maximize the number of tags that they can have. Tags are your keywords, and they are critically important to being found. Include any relevant tags. Then, check back in a month or two to see how that particular video is being found—and change out some of the tags that are insignificant. For your long-tail keywords, be sure to include them within quotes, like “Business Blog Writers,” so that they’re searched as single phrases, rather than three separate words.

5.Post on Pinterest: In August, Krizia taught us How to Add Your YouTube Videos to Pinterest. Note that Krizia also suggests branding every video that you have on your channel because Pinterest allows people to watch the video directly on Pinterest. Unless they have motivation or reason to find out more, most viewers will not click through to your YouTube channel.

6.Like your video: The number of likes on your video helps it gain popularity, so by liking it, you’re just helping it get the attention of the audience you’re trying to target.

7.Share it on Facebook: Whether you have a Facebook page dedicated to your blog or website, or whether you just use your personal Facebook profile, you will want to share your video there for people to see. You never know who they will share it with—this is how many videos have gone viral. If you are posting a video that involves a company, take the time to tag them in the post with the video link.

8.Share It on Twitter: As usual, you want to shoot a link to your video out to all your Twitter followers. Be sure to include relevant hash tags and, if your video features a company and its product, then you definitely want to include their Twitter handle in the tweet too. For example, when I upload a product review for Floppycats, I then send out a Tweet like this, “Ragdoll Cats Chow Down on Eden Foods Bonito Tuna Flakes—Floppycats http://ow.ly/cU6Gp @edenfoods #cat #cats”.

9.Share it on Google+: YouTube is owned by Google and so is Google+. They like each other, so make sure they like your videos too.

10.Share it on LinkedIn (if appropriate): If your video is business-related and will help your efforts to grow your business, then you certainly want to share it on LinkedIn.

11.Schedule it to post on HootSuite monthly, for the next year: I like to come up with a Tweet or a Facebook posting for each new video, and reschedule them for release once a month for a year. As a blogger, it shows companies you’re promoting that you are looking to maintain your relationships with them, and also helps an old video enjoy new life every month.

12.Create a video response: Search for a video that is similar to yours, and rather than writing a comment about it, create a video response that will attract the audience you want.

13.Write a blog post and embed the video: More than likely you are trying to get Google to love your website and want to put it at the top of their search engine results. So make them love it more by embedding your YouTube videos into your blog posts.

14.Add it to a playlist: Whether you have already established playlists, or need a new one for this video, add it to a playlist using a relevant keyword from the video.

I have not found any good stuff in fiverr for traffic and views. It all seems to be bot stuff and a waste of cash. I would think Pinterest would work for you. You could pin your videos and follow other people and boards about music... You could pin pics of album covers and they are trying to roll out buy pins.

I think social media promotion is the best way to increase views and subscriber for your youtube channel. It's quick and easy, and can drive huge traffic to your site and boost your sales dramatically.

Some good, legal ways to promote Youtube?
Use Keyword rich titles, tags and descriptions
Look for other high ranking videos in your niche and see what tags they use
Post your Video on your blog, website or both. (Google owns Youtube so your pages rank higher with these on them)
Pin your Youtube video to Pinterest.
Mention your Youtube video in articles or relevant forums where permissible
Post links to your blog that has your video on it on Reddit and Tumblr
Post links to the direct video on these
Ask in the video for likes and shares

Yes, I am aware of that. I am very avid social media user and I have been maximising my exposure through my own Facebook music page, online groups, Instagram, online forums and Dayre. Not to be ungrateful or anything for the suggestion, but I am already heavily promoting on social media and have been getting satisfying results. People keep suggesting this over and over again even though I'm already doing it!

The main question of this thread is "What else can be done to promote something even more if I'm willing to spend the $$$?"

It would be useful if people could share personal experiences from paid marketing campaigns from companies like Virool and so on, whereby they aren't cheap at all so I'm assuming they would be a little more legitimate.

Don't forget Soundcloud. A fair number of recent artists like Aviici just posted a bunch of their stuff on Soundcloud in the right genres and ended up with label deals. The thing you have to understand is that they gave it away for free on Soundcloud to maximize their audience.
