So apparently Facebook is now rolling out the ability to place ads right on the homescreen of messenger, below your recent conversations. Currently testing it in AU and Thailand.

What do you guys think of this as another user acquisition strategy? With ~1Bn Monthly Active Users, this is a potentially lucrative source of revenue and traffic if done right.

I think the click through rate for these ads would be really low if not zero. People open up messenger because they want to talk to someone and not to just casually browse though your previous conversations and contact list.

This is waste of money for advertisers.

We don't know... Maybe Facebook offers them in combo (Facebook feed + Messenger)... IF they are generous enough! lol

I just hope this turns out good for those who try it.

    • I hear CTR for these ads is higher than other placement & the option for messenger is just can target the people who messege our fans page

I personally find it invasive and irritating, just another set of ads i'll ignore. But there's a lot of people out there who click on a lot of ads.

They are actually thingking on how to make more money, that's why they already include the mesenger which open for advertisement. As we all know, the owners of those advertisements are paying Facebook.

These basically is annoying. Our messenger should be the most private are on Facebook that we can talk with people. While on the wall, there is no problem with that.
