Facebook Ads Not Converting - Why?

I've been selling clothing in the alternative niche for several years and recently noticed a lot of large FB campaigns targeted at me for alternative apparel products. On closer inspection, these stores were all on the Shopify platform. I built a Shopify store, careful to imitate the design of (supposedly) successful stores, and filled it with some of my most popular products.

Then the FB campaigns started - again, modeled on the supposedly successful ones I had seen. I set it for general targeting - young women in English-speaking countries. Conversion in the red. Then I created a Lookalike Audience from my store's tracking pixel and tried again. No sales.

Any clue what I'm missing here?

My store: gear-holic.com

  • Have you tried tweaking your sales copy? A/B tested your ads?

To make the advertisement campaign successful, we need to create an effective marketing campaign. Many marketing companies fail to drive any traffic through Facebook ads and following could be one of the reasons that the Facebook ads are not driving any traffic to your website:
    1. You are targeting the wrong audience
    2. Your ads are not creative
    3. The images in the ads are not eye-catching
    4. Your headline or description text isnt unique
    5. You are not performing A/B testing for your ads
    6. You are using the wrong type of facebook ads
    7. You arent following up with personal interactions

Audience keywords - do you mean their interests?

I found that with my ads, I need to point out a pain or pleasure first, get their attention, then solve the problem by letting them know why they need the product. Then a definite call to action. That has worked for me.

Hello, wca and lookalikes are the good start, than as mentioned here, do a/b testing - test images, texts, call to actions
    Target - competitors, specific interests

I like your site I did lot of fashion ads on fb, what helps (you never know if the clothes will fit!) is to put in copy something like FREE return, FREE shipping, SALE, today discount, last items ...
Your store seems reliable, but feels bit empty, not personal, like created yesterday without personal interest in the topic (gothic).

Facebook Ads are not converting as lead? Sure there is a serious problem with the choice of keywords and choice of audience.

Keywords - you mean interests of the audience?

There are a ton of red flags I see with your method. Based on your post this is what I assume.

    1) You dont seem to have a targeted audience. How big is the audience you're targeting? You should be aiming for 10k-100k people.

    2) You dont seem to have any A/B testing done. How many ads and adsets are you currently running?

    3) Are your ads getting engagements (like, comments, shares)?

    4) Keep in mind that Facebook ads is super cold traffic, unless you are giving them a solution to a major problem, you wont get sales from your first campaign. Do you have any follow up or retarget campaigns set up?

Lastly Facebook ads is a heavy A/B testing platform that relies on trial and error until you find a suitable audience and message. The bigger your budget the faster you blaze through the trial and error stage and into the breaking even stage and then finally into the long awaited positive ROI stage.
